Office iPad and OneDrive Issues - Missing Folders

Rather than using your suggestion of reducing the number of folders I have found a bug detailed here and provided a work around. I have also detailed other bugs. Can we please get some feedback and action.

5 *s for the product and 1 * for its interface with iOS.

I have been using Word for over 20 years and Pages for the last two. Pages is a good product (great if it had a decent file system) and Word for the iPad (version 1.1.2) is also a good product (and great if the file system worked properly). Although I have used Macros and Maths in Word over the years the absence of these on the iPad version isn’t surprising. For general word processing tasks Word on the iPad is a gem to use. Great product to use BUT - the file system is full of bugs. Here are a few.

1]-Folder Bug. If you have a file system as depicted here:

Documents

       /\

Docs Docs 2

     |          |

Folder1 Folder2      

Then Word displays this as:

Documents

               /\

Docs Docs 2 Folder1

               |

            Folder2

That is if you have within the same folder a subfolder (Docs) with a name which is also embedded in another(Docs 2) then the contents of the folder (Docs) seem to float up a level as shown for Word. Fortunately OneDrive doesn’t have this same bug. 

a) I assume that if Docs and Docs 2 were top folders Folder1 would disappear altogether.

b) Also embedded is left a bit undefined as Docs and Docs2 might not have the same problem.

I haven’t tested these conjectures a) and b) as I have spent a lot of time recovering from the bug detailed here and I don’t savour a return to the Folder/File minefield.

1]-Folder Bug Work Around. In the example cited changing the name of Docs to Docs 1 (a name which is no longer embedded in Docs 2) changes the disarranged folder, Folder1, to be a subfolder of Docs 1, previously called Docs. Applying this workaround extensively has given me back the gem.

2]-File Sync Bug. Having exited Word, top <-, and going immediately to OneDrive to carry out a presently missing feature in Word, Open in, the file can be for some earlier time. That is it isn’t up to date with latest changes. (There are numerous other sync problems as well. This is just one.)

2]-File Sync Work Around. Remove Word and OneDrive from the list of running Apps. (That is use the double-home press and flip the icons up.) Then proceed to OneDrive and select the gear-cog bottom right to turn off Use Office Apps which then provides an Open in feature. (A good idea is to turn Use Office Apps on again when finished in OneDrive.) If lacking sync in Word then when in the correct folder pull well down on a blank area and syncing is forced, although this may not be quick.

3]-Microsoft Support Bug. The bug here is to get some feedback from Microsoft. You would think that the reports here must provide a valuable resource for the Debugging Team. We have little encouragement to continue our reports except if we can provide work arounds for others with similar bugs that we have encountered.

From perusing the site I was lead to believe that nobody, especially Microsoft staff, ever even glanced at it. No resolution has resulted I understand. I am continuing with my workaround  until a bug report indicates that this fault is rectified. Indeed the confusion of seeing OneDrive with different folder layout compared with Word doesn't help us recommend the product to others. Although I would say that once the minefield of folders and files are resolved Office on the iPad should be first class.

Let's hope together for some action by Microsoft, JohnPercy.

Has this issue been resolved?  I am seeing the same issue on my ipad word (but like the original post can see folders on OneDrive app from my IPad
