I am getting the error, “Something went wrong. Sorry, we ran into a problem. Go online for additional help. 30088-4” when trying to install Office 2013. What should I do?

Hi Naman,

If you receive this error:

“Something went wrong. Sorry, we ran into a problem. Go online for additional help. Error Code 30088-4”

Use this article to remove Office and then try installing it again.

    Let me re-attempt to explain to you what the problem is:

    • I've logged into Office 365, which takes me to office.microsoft.com.  My account is for the Home/Student version of Office.
    • There is no option in the top-right of this page for Settings>Office 365 settings.
    • I instead go to 'My Account'.
    • I am sent directly to a page that reads:

    Office isn’t associated with this account.

    • If you’ve already activated Office, sign out and then sign in with the Microsoft account you used to activate Office.
    • If you have Office but haven’t activated it, you can use your product key to activate.*Activate Office now*
    • If you don’t have Office, you can buy it in the Office store.

    I tried signing out and in again: no changes.

    I have activated Office already.

    Oh look, I can buy Office again.  I don't think so.  My key should already be associated with my account.
