exporting contacts FROM Outlook 365

I've worked as a computer consultant for 20 years. I have to say that Office 365 is the LEAST user friendly product I've ever seen. Impossible to do do simply things that in other products are intuitive. Right now I'm trying to export my contact list. When I search on this topic all the examples say something like go to OUTLOOK -> FILE --> OPTIONS --> ADVANCED.   After an hour of searching I dont find anything in outlook that says file . I find options but not Advanced and nothing else that leads to exporting

Hi Steve,

I will assist you with the query you have in exporting contacts from Outlook 365.

You may follow the steps below to Export the Outlook contacts:

Open Outlook, click File, Open and export and then click Export to a file.

Once you are in the import\Export window follow the on screen instructions to export the items from Outlook.

If you want to import the data into Outlook, then you may refer to the direction mentioned in the link below:

Note: Instead of Import, you need to look for the Export option in the above link.

    2 Good questions for which I have no answers but eagerly await the answers for as I'm using Office 365 as well and there is no such option to export. As someone has already commented; it's inexcusable for this problem to have persisted for over a year (or 2). Life changes happen.

    I think the root of the problem for so many of us is that there are so many different variations, and we're not exactly sure what to call each one. The email program that I am using for school is a web-based Office 365 Outlook, not desktop, no file tab, version, no admin privileges, and on a strictly guarded server network. I am still not able to export.

    I tried to use Steff_redd's suggestion of importing to 2010 Desktop version, but I was unable to connect to the server to configure server settings and download. And to be honest, I don't want all those emails downloaded to my desktop.

    I see your suggestion for the Outlook.com version, which I have for my old Hotmail account, and can see the "Export for Outlook and other services", but that option simply doesn't exist in the Manage Tab of Web Office 365.

    I just want to be able to transfer my contacts list for our club newsletter to another student, Is that so hard to ask of Microsoft?

    Also, how can this thread be changed from Answered back to Unanswered, because obviously the problem persists, and the person who 'answered' it, gave the wrong advice.

    This worked for me, too, after over an hour of sweating and going crazy trying to export my emails directly.  I have no choice, I have graduated from my university and need to export my emails because the school is going to turn off my access soon.  It is just inexcusable that a user should come up with this rather than Microsoft.  Boo, Microsoft!

    So many variations here....

    Outlook Thick client, Outlook Web client, Office 365 user, Outlook.com user, Mac/Windows...

    I will provide the solution for a personal account on Outlook.com

    1. Click on the "squares" to the left of the word "Outlook.com" on the top of the page
    2. Select "People" from the options presented
    3. A new tab will open in the web browser with the "People" app showing all your contacts
    4. Select the "Manage" item on the tool bar to reveal the drop down list
    5. Click on "Export for Outlook.com and other services" to download a CSV file (comma separated file) that can be (potentially) imported into other services or products (like Excel)
