scrolling speed excel with filters

Hi

I downloaded the workbook and followed your instructions

Typing 'x' into cells in column BK changes TRUE to FALSE incolumn BS. Excel seems normally responsive to me in this regard.

Scrolling vertically by grabbing the slider on the right is lightning fast. Using my mouse scroll wheel is sluggish. Using the mouse scroll wheel to scroll up and down quickly and repeatedly uses 99% of my CPU according to activity monitor, but Excel only jumps to 188mb so I still have more than a gig of free memory.

Horizontal scrolling is a bit jumpy, but acceptable to me.

On my Mac I don't see a performance degredation so bad that I think I would be complaining about it. My Excel version is 14.3.9. My Mac has 7 gig of 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM RAM and 2 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors. What's your Mac's RAM and processor configuration? Does the workbook work OK if you restart your Mac and go directly to that workbook without opening any other applications? Are you using a different version of Excel?

I created a folder on dropbox and placed my EXCEL sample workbook with only 3100 data rows there.

1. Set filters e.g. in COL H and an >Contains< Filter in COL D.
2. goto a cell e.g. in BK and type in a "x"; <CR> another "X" and so on
3. wonder, why it takes microsoft to tahe 1 to 2 seconds to enter that "x", move to the next cell and do the same there.

BTW:

I removed as much as possible from the workbook:

Tabs with formula etc. so it is very reduced to the issue

HINT:

the Hidden columns multiply ths issue. Unhided still tooooo worse.

It is not possible to work with that perf.... uuupps, wrong word .... NON-performance.

1. Scrolling speed is slow compared to Microsoft Excel for PC even without a filter.
2. Apply an auto filter. Scrolling gets even slower. Barely workable.

This problem gets worse with more data. I have a Retina Macbook Pro 13 with 2.8Ghz Inter Core i7, 16GB RAM, 750GB SSD. Hope this gets us moving forward.

The only way I can think of for the whole community to be able to get your workbook would be to make it public. Obviously, you should not do this for any workbook that contains personal, sensitive, or confidential information. Hopefully you will be able to replace confidential information with generic filler. No one is interested in your data. All we want is to get our hands on a workbook that exhibits the problem as is.

I AM NOT GOING TO PLACE MY THINGS ANYWHERE PUBLIC.

It is enough that our friends from the NSA scan everything, I am not additionally undressing myself mentally od physiacally in front of the world.

So, IF it is that important to have the my Workbook in order to fix this horrible software quality then please organize that NOT the whole world can download my Workbook.

I would prefer to Mail the workbook to a micosoft guy directly - to be short and honest.

IF IT IS NOT that important .... the community might think what is nearest.
