Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

    I don't know what you or all the others are doing, but here on MY web-based Hotmail (and yes I do have Skydrive) there is a Download link against the attachment, I click on it and the normal Windows "Open or Save" dialog box appears. No mention of Skydrive WHATSOEVER. I then can open it directly in the appropriate Office module, , or save it to my HDD.

    IM SEARCHING RIGHT NOW AT 4:36AM TO GET THIS SKYDRIVE UNINSTALLED SOMEHOW.

    Steve you are very welcome.  I used to run an internet marketing company with over 200 people and learned that I will have to figure a lot of things out on my own based on some of the information that IT gave me.  So, through trial and error I learned our CRM and built websites.  So I am very stubborn and a control freak.  You may post the answer as I am always happy to help someone who is frustrated.  I am sorry that my hotmail didn't screw up sooner.
