Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

    First, THANK YOU!  This has been one of the most exasperating things.  For like a week.   I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH!

    Second, how the ____ did you figure THAT out?

    Third, why the XXXX could someone at hotmail not tell me.....LIKE 5 DAYS AGO?  If I wasn't so relieved, I'd be more pissed! (ha ha)

    Fourth, PLEASE START ANOTHER FORUM AND GIVE PEOPLE THIS ANSWER.  I will if you don't in the next day, but at least from my perspective you deserve the credit.

    Me either.  I love the interface much more than Gmail.  Hopefully they have enough people with the same issue that they will fix soon.

    I may go that route.  Still holding out....but not hopeful.  I'm just so used to hotmail, and dependent on it, I don't want to switch....
