Unable to Use Crop Handles in Publisher 2010

I recently upgraded to Publisher 2010.  I know they redesigned the crop feature (with fit and fill), but I cannot seem to do a simple crop.  When I click on "Crop", the crop handles appear momentarily on the selected object, then disappear, and the standard resize handles (white dots) reappear.  Hope this makes sense.  It seems like there is a simple answer/solution - I'm sure I'm missing something.  Thanks in advance for your help.

The crop option is the same as it has in all versions of Publisher with the exception the cropped part is visible. Right-click your image, click on the crop symbol. It is also on the ribbon when you click on Picture Tools.

You cannot crop drawn autoshapes unless you convert them to pictures.

I don't know why your crop handles appear then disappear. Does this happen on all pictures? If you re-insert the troublesome image, do the crop handles work?

    Hi All - I have installed Publisher 2010 on a machine running vista and am having exactly the same problem. It is impossible for me to do my work today I need to find my old 2007 disc and reinstall that.

    It is definitely a bug in it.

    Hi everyone.

    I am having exactly the same problem, handles for cropping appear briefly and then dissapear. I have also tried all suggestions and do not know anymore what can be done at the user end. I can only think that this is a negative feature (bug) which has wiggled it´s way in between builds. I would appreciate it if somebody could speak nicely to the developer and ask him/her to wiggle this "negative feature" out, and give us an update over "Windows updates" asap.

    I need this function , as do many other people... this is a fantastic product, don´t spoil our fun. :)

    Hi Mary and thanks for your advice, however I've tried everything in this thread to no avail.  Can you think of anything else I could try??  Maybe uninstall Office Professional Plus 2010 and try re-installing? Or uninstall and re-install with 2010 but select Publisher 2007 version?  Seems crazy.  Why is there no MS fix or workaround for this problem?

    It's v frustrating as I use the crop tool on Publisher a LOT!

    Well you are absolutely entitled to your opinion (obviously!!) but I absolutely believe it to be a bug... a bug is not defined by how many people witness it after all!
