Unable to Use Crop Handles in Publisher 2010

I recently upgraded to Publisher 2010.  I know they redesigned the crop feature (with fit and fill), but I cannot seem to do a simple crop.  When I click on "Crop", the crop handles appear momentarily on the selected object, then disappear, and the standard resize handles (white dots) reappear.  Hope this makes sense.  It seems like there is a simple answer/solution - I'm sure I'm missing something.  Thanks in advance for your help.

The crop option is the same as it has in all versions of Publisher with the exception the cropped part is visible. Right-click your image, click on the crop symbol. It is also on the ribbon when you click on Picture Tools.

You cannot crop drawn autoshapes unless you convert them to pictures.

I don't know why your crop handles appear then disappear. Does this happen on all pictures? If you re-insert the troublesome image, do the crop handles work?

    I don't believe this is a bug. Some folks have reported this, but not everybody. I have no problem with the crop tool. One of the posters reported he could crop as an administrator. Maybe repairing your profile would help.

    If you put the crop tool on the Quick Access Toolbar, it might work from there. If you remove the crop tool from the ribbon, then add it back it might work.

    You cannot crop a group.

    No never solved this and AFAIK Microsoft fail to acknowledge this bugs existance!!!!!!  Usual story with many for some reason! :(

    I have this same problem.  The crop tool works perfectly in Word but not in Publisher 2010.  When you select the picture and then click the Crop tool, the handles appear momentarily and then immediately revert to the selection dots.

    This is on Office Professional Plus 2010 - a recent upgrade from 2007 version (which worked fine). I'm signed in as Administrator and have tried the "repair" solution suggested elsewhere in this thread - to no avail.

    Has Microsoft identified a solution to this problem yet please?
