I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

I added a link to the original .docx in case that might help. I don't know it might have been on my end during the zipping or something. Anyways, thanks for all the help already.

Its a bit of an important homework assignment, I don't know .xml myself, and you just seem amazing for helping everyone out already. If it's possible any help would be very much appreciated. Are you actually seeing the same error as others? That is, are you getting something along the lines of:
"File corrupted and can't open"
"The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag.
Location: Part /word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 222"
I'm asking because I can't open document.xml at all. It appears to be corrupt on my system (all other files can be extracted). If document.xml is corrupt, then the actual content of your document is lost, and nothing can be repaired.

I, like many of the other people on this report, have received an error in a document with a lot with the microsoft equation editor (I believe version 5 is the one in Word 2010). I myself went into the XML and the line and column that the error mentioned (Line 2 and Column 49830) and nothing seemed wrong.

It seems as though this has been happening more frequently in the past few days... could you possibly file a bug report with Microsoft for it? I wish to continue using Word 2010 in the future for Math homework.

The error was located next to the textbox about the Pythagorean theorem on page 3. I doubt anything went missing or has moved, but you might want to check that part carefully.
As to reporting this to Microsoft, considering the amount of 'Microsoft Support' people on this forum, one would hope they realised by now that there is a serious flaw in their equation engine.
