I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

We are currently working on getting something publicly available to help address this particular problem, but at the moment we are still investigating the issue. Until then, if there are questions or concerns about this issue, you can direct them to the following post I created on our Word Support blog.
When something becomes available I will update the blog as well as any other workarounds for getting documents corrected as we come across them.

Exactly what the problem is, nobody really knows - the corruption seems to occur when equations and textboxes get tangled up in a way that shouldn't be possible. In certain circumstances, certain sequences of actions corrupt what will be saved as the document, though not the in-memory open document you are working on, so that you only become aware of it when you next try to open the document.
Without any knowledge of what triggers the corruption, for which there is no evidence on the working document surface, it is almost impossible to know how to stop it happening again. However, if you are afeared of it, you could try saving, taking a copy of the saved document, and checking if it will open, and only then closing the original if you know the later version is good - what you do if you find that the saved version isn't good is harder to suggest.
