I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

Going forward if you or anyone else comes across this issue again, we have a FixIt solution created that should address this problem. You can go to the following KB article and it should give you the details about how you can correct these documents.

Thank you very much. I now know the evils of the flash drive. lol After posting last night, I decided to just go ahead and start over because I wasn't sure if I'd get a fast reply. I have about four more pages to go but I have two days so I think I'll be fine. Thanks again :-)

That's par for the course, I'm afraid. They give every indication of doing the sort of keyword matching that could be done by machine, and no indication whatsoever of having any knowledge of the product, or any interest in learning.

love2019 also started a separate thread for this (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wordcreate/thread/dd015728-2bea-4a0f-b041-38d8fc81821d) and the "i" was a hyperlink to the document. I did spot it, and have fixed it, but it could have been clearer!!

Indeed, I skipped right over that "i" when I read that thread. The Microsoft Support answer in that thread was once again totally useless. Giving the 'ease' to fix this type of errors, you would figure that support would be able to do it by now ...
