I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

I don't want to rub salt on an open wound, but this is a perfect example of why not to work directly to and from a thumb drive.

The file I downloaded and worked on was not responding positively to any repair technique I attempted on the base archive structure in general and word/document.xml in particular. Without being able to get that file separated from the DOCX, my experience with repairing your document come to an end unfortunately.

The archive Assignment.docx is corrupt and cannot be split into its component parts. This is required for any repair action.
Do you have any other versions of the same file? Has this version already had repair operations attempted? If so, do you have an original?
I have moved your post to a long-standing thread on DOCX file repair where it should get more attention from informed sources.
I'll download your file and take a look at it shortly.
