I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

Thanks Brandon! I have no idea man. It was like I saved it one night and the next morning it couldn't be opened.
Actually I've managed to restore it to the state you've sent me (I'm still grateful for your help) but things (i.e. inserted shapes with text) are still missing from the document.
Do you think you could help me retrieve those?
There was a corruption at Line 2, Column 1070977. I removed the offending section and the file wanted to work again.
I managed to recover 28 pages. You will need to proof-read the section immediately after the phrase Relationship between speed and freight rate (details in Chapter 6) on page 21.

This one has a different corruption then the others, but I've uploaded a version that will open in Word now.

Do you have any information about what you were doing with the file before it got into this state? I've only seen a couple files like this and any information I can get about how these files got like this would be helpful.
