How can I get spam emails from these senders to stop? They are in the junk folder, so rules don't work.

I don’t think where we are located matters much. I live in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and have not been traveling abroad when this whole thing started happening.

It is insane how annoying this has been. I too felt so relieved when the preview spam emails stopped, only to discover that I am again receiving those same spam emails but now from email addresses that begin differently (same subject of the emails as before though).

Frequency and the number of these is by far most annoying thing. Sometimes they come within 5-10 of each other.

It’s infuriating that so many of us are dealing with the same issue and Microsoft is not doing a single thing to address it!!

I have been using my hotmail account for almost 15 years, but I am beginning to question if I will need to start using my secondary gmail account and link all my subscriptions to it instead. -.-

No real purpose my comment, just had to let it all out 😀

I am seriously thinking of getting rid of my outlook account and I would have already if I didn't have so much tied to it.

The only workaround I have, is ridiculous but it works for me better than manually going through and deleting.

The problem is spam/junk folder.. MS don't let us not use it.

Creating a rule is fairly easy but doesn't apply in the junk folder

So.. every day I drag about 60 emails out of the junk folder and have to mark them as SAFE ! Just so they don't go in spam in future. Obviously many still go in there as new addresses are used every time

Once they are in (and messing up) my inbox, I then run a rule that deletes all emails where the Sender Email Contains preview@

If you have problems just letting it accept preview@ , then you could possibly do it in message header too?

Over the past week, this has directed more and more emails directly to deletion but still lots go into junk first.

If we could just turn off Junk folder, this rule would solve most of the problem

I too have been getting these recently and have been reporting these emails in hopes that we can get a feature to be able to use wildcard characters such as preview@*.* in the junk mail block list setting to block all variations of the junk emails that start with preview@.

But this is Microsoft. Saving us time and effort is not in their DNA anymore. Subscription money doesn't get you much these days. If it weren't for the fact my family needs Office, I would delete my Microsoft account and move on. There was a time 40 years ago where this kind of issue would be resolved in less than a week. How things have changed since then.

    Dear OverFifty

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community

I understand your concern, I noticed that the sender always starts with "preview@", may I ask how you set up the rule? I've done a test on my side, as shown in the picture below, may I ask if this is how you set up the rule? (As long as the sender address contains the word "preview", the corresponding email will be deleted), or would you like to share the screenshot of the rule you set up with me?

(This is the path to the outlook.com rule set)

Did you click the Synchronize button to make the rule effective after you set up the corresponding rule? If you don't click the Synchronize button, the rules you set may not be valid.

I wish you all the best

    Dear OverFifty

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community

For a large number of spam emails from different senders, it's troublesome to block the sender alone. I understand that these emails are already in your spam mailbox, so you can choose to delete suspicious spam emails permanently.

Steps: Open Junk Mailbox, right-click on any junk mail 》 Junk Mail 》 Junk Mail Options 》permanently delete suspicious junk mails instead of moving them to Junk Mail folder.

I hope this information is helpful and if you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be happy to help.

I wish you all the best
