Email on Gmail account are not getting marked as read

I was happily using older version of Outlook on windows but a popup made to switch to latest version (pre) of Outlook or mail not sure what its called now.

I am able to receive and send emails using outlook flawlessly however the issue is these emails are not getting marked as read, temporary its read but very soon again shows as unread. I checked on web Gmail as well it shows as unread. I dont think this could be sync issue because I receive emails on time.

What is going on any idea?

    Unfortunately I don't think so, as I have this problem both in my personal (W11) and work (W10) computers.

    Moreover Outlook on my android device has no issues at all.

    I don't know if other user are experiencing the same bug fixed somehow, but the last time I gave it a try (I think 3\4 weeks ago), the issue was still there.

    And as haizmann says, he/she still has the problem...

    Getting this issue with 3 emails, one has randomly now staid read, nothing seems to work and its only started happening recently.

    However, mark as read appropriately triggers the flag change server side when marking as read on selection change.

    Unfortunately, it does not. The messages remain as unread on both GMail and IMAP servers.

    Just the fact that this issue is now on page THREE and according to you is finally fixed is exactly why I've uninstalled both outlook and windows mail, and went all in on Mailbird. I've been fighting with Microsoft over email since 2015, and I'm just tired of it. Just like my web browser, map program, your phone app, MS Teams, and now email, Microsoft lost me. That's OK, I love Windows 11 and my Surface products. And now, I'm bowing out of this thread. I sincerely do hope that MS figures out email someday. Take care.

    That's always worked, most of the time anyway. When an email shows as read in Outlook, go check on the email service's webmail. It still shows as unread there, and that's the problem. It works flawlessly with MailBird though.
