How do I rearrange email accounts in the new Outlook?

I want to know how to rearrange, move, the multiple accounts I have in Outlook. Simply move one from the top to the bottom and vice versa. What would seem like a very simple task. The accounts I have are two Microsoft accounts and one Gmail account. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. By the way this is the "New Outlook" so I've found you cant just click and drag the account like before. I'm guessing they require you to go back to school and get a masters in Computer Science to perform what should be a fairly simple task, Anyways, thank in advance for the help!

I get what you mean, to individually set a given account to be the "primary account". I'm using the client edition of Office Home and Professional 2024. This works well if you only have two accounts. Unfortunately I have six accounts to reorder. I thought I could rotate through each targeted account in reverse order, making each one "primary account" one-by-one, but unfortunately this approach only works with the account currently designated as "primary account". As soon as you move on to the next account the previous account resumes its original order, instead of just moving down one.

Why on earth re-ordering accounts by either drag-and-drop or a move-up/move-down option from the more options button, just like the Favorites folders is beyond me. Microsoft just dumbs it down and removes functionality with this client version. They seem to have always struggled to make things both user intuitive and fully featured in one-go.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work for my situation. These emails are all shared email accounts that are shared to my account. The only option would be to have the main office delete all the shared boxes to reshare them in my preferred order, and that is just unreasonable to expect of a large company with a large Microsoft subscription. I use every box more times a day than I can count. I simply wanted them in alphabetical order, which you would think there would be a button for at the very least. Oh well old version it is. I like the gray scale better than dark mode anyway.

    This is correct.

As stated above - You need to click Settings> Accounts> Manage> set the account you want to be on top as primary

When you do that, it replaces the top email account with another email account below in the left Nav sequence. So, my one account that is personal becomes top email. Then the business email is swapped with the personal one that is the 3rd account on the left nav. I actually want to move my business to the top then 2nd the personal then follow by other accounts not that heavy used. I hope the fix in a newer update. It was so much easier in the old outlook with drag and drop.

I do like the newer outlook, and it seems to be quicker and sleeker. Microsoft did a good thing with that change. Just keep going with minor updates when customers request them.

The option of making an account the 'Primary' one only moves that one account to the top. What if I have several accounts?

Without the ability to re-order all of these accounts, my list is in total disarray. It's not even in the order I had it in my old Outlook client.

This is such a stupid oversight. Come on Microsoft, you're better than this!

Bad design. The product manager is not competent.
