Hey there, my name is Ajibola and I'm excited to help you today!

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature. Still, they have stated that they are listening to user feedback and prioritizing the most requested features https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/getting-started-with-the-new-outlook-for-windows-656bb8d9-5a60-49b2-a98b-ba7822bc7627. You can check their blog posts and release notes for the latest updates on the new Outlook for Windows development.

In the meantime, you can still use the classic Outlook for Windows app to access your IMAP account, or use a web browser to access your email provider's website. You can also switch back and forth between the new and classic Outlook for Windows apps by using the toggle switch at the top-right corner of the window.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to ask. I'm here to help!

Microsoft acknowledges that new Outlook is having some issues. I'm sure it will be cleared up soon.

Why would Microsoft knowingly make it so outlook is no longer the center of activity? This makes me start looking for another option outside the Microsoft world. Knowingly setting your customers for frustration and failure while taking money annually from me to do so is very upsetting. Are you offering refund?? Maybe its time for me to consider Apple products.

What I don't understand is that I made the switch over from the old, classic Outlook Express to the new Outlook in January and have had no problems with it until yesterday morning when I was locked out. I never received any advance notice that this was not going to work any longer for email providers with IMAP, POP accounts. I have been with the same internet provider for many years. I was surprised when the Microsoft Edge came up on my screen and was asking me to sign in for the first time. I looked up my password for Microsoft, and that didn't work and none of my passwords that I have used for the internet email provider worked. I tried to use the sign-in tool, and there was no option for it to send the code to my text no., and then going to my old Outlook acct., I found the code and it did unlock it. In the meantime, my McAfee shut me out as well for too many attempts. Today, Day 2, I still am unable to get emails from my new Outlook account. I tried setting up or creating an app password for Microsoft and was unsuccessful at doing that. I have printed up instructions on how to change passwords but am unable to determine if it is asking me to set up an app password for Microsoft or change my password on Outlook. I am disappointed that my emails are evidently there for a couple of seconds before it turns them off. I don't think this should be happening when people depend on their emails for communication even if it just for home and not business.
