Hotmail keeps asking for credentials on android phone

I have the Blackberry Hub and associated apps (password keeper, calendar, mail etc.) Installed on my android phone. For the last week when I open mail, I get a pop up asking me to verify my credentials for my hotmail account. It takes me to the account management screen where I have to enter my password. When I do so, I get the same pop up asking for credentials again. However, at certain points during the day, the account works fine and I get mail. This has happened before, but either entering my password worked, or it corrected itself the same day or next. I also have my Gmail and Sympatico email accounts in the Blackberry mail hub, as well as text messages, WhatsApp and Instagram . They all work fine. Since many other ppl have had the same issues with their hotmail account, it's definitely not the Blackberry Hub and Services that are causing the problem. Since you are in the process of transferring Windows mail to Outlook, which will affect hotmail accounts but not gmail etc., I'm wondering if this is the problem. My hotmail account works in Outlook and when I log in on the internet. I don't have a problem switching my hotmail account to Outlook, but I still want it to appear in my Blackberry mail hub.

So, after finally getting lucky and getting in through Blackberry Hub, it only lasted for 4 days, and now I'm getting the same message again. From the replies I've got from Microsoft, it appears that the only way to get hotmail to work, is to add it to Outlook. It seems to me that Microsoft is forcing ppl to use Outlook if they want to get hotmail without any issues. And their suggested work around is also not working based on the many posts about setting up app passwords. This is not a good look for Microsoft.

I got lucky. A few days ago, it came up with the update account msg. I've been trying a couple of times a week since this started. I clicked on the update and entered my regular password and it worked. Don't know how long it'll last. Tried my husband's account today and it still won't work, so i don't know why/how mine worked the other day. It's so dumb too cause my emails were coming through anyway. Just a bit slower than normal. It's definitely a Microsoft problem. I'm sure it has to do with the change from Microsoft mail to outlook. It's also only a problem on my phone. Hotmail is still working in mail on laptop and tablet.

It is still asking. Using an app password works sometimes but only for short periods.

It does suck. I think it was a fluke. I've been trying off and on and was totally surprised when I got in. You might get lucky in the future if you keep trying every 3 or 4 days
