Hotmail keeps asking for credentials on android phone

I have the Blackberry Hub and associated apps (password keeper, calendar, mail etc.) Installed on my android phone. For the last week when I open mail, I get a pop up asking me to verify my credentials for my hotmail account. It takes me to the account management screen where I have to enter my password. When I do so, I get the same pop up asking for credentials again. However, at certain points during the day, the account works fine and I get mail. This has happened before, but either entering my password worked, or it corrected itself the same day or next. I also have my Gmail and Sympatico email accounts in the Blackberry mail hub, as well as text messages, WhatsApp and Instagram . They all work fine. Since many other ppl have had the same issues with their hotmail account, it's definitely not the Blackberry Hub and Services that are causing the problem. Since you are in the process of transferring Windows mail to Outlook, which will affect hotmail accounts but not gmail etc., I'm wondering if this is the problem. My hotmail account works in Outlook and when I log in on the internet. I don't have a problem switching my hotmail account to Outlook, but I still want it to appear in my Blackberry mail hub.

I quite agree. I use the laptop based Outlook and do not like the web based version. I use the BlackBerry app for the same reasons as you and it has been great until recently. The app password does seem to work and whilst I still am receiving the update messages they are now seeming to clear themselves and this afternoon the emails have kept coming. There was another work around; linking the hotmail address to a gmail account and receiving it that way. Not perfect obviously.

    Watching carefully.

Definitely was a fluke. It lasted 4 days, and now I'm back to getting the message to update my hotmail account. I'm not using your work around re app passwords cause there were so many posts saying that didn't work. I don't want to add my hotmail account to Outlook on my mobile phone. I shouldn't have to switch between apps to read my hotmail messages. Aside from the inconvenience of having to switch apps, the mobile version of Outlook is not very versatile. You can't personalize the view and there's limited choices for calendar views. Users should be able to use whatever app they choose for mail. I feel like Microsoft is forcing ppl to use Outlook which is really not a good look. Very disappointed with Microsoft. This issue needs to be resolved so that users have the freedom to choose how they receive email.

So much for getting into Hotmail in the Blackberry Hub. It only lasted 4 days and now I'm back to getting the messages about updating my hotmail account. I'm thinking Microsoft is trying to force ppl to use Outlook, which is shady on their part. The stupid thing is that I'm still getting hotmail in the Hub. It just takes longer to come through.
