Hello

I have been using Tripit for years and it has successfully sync'ed with my Outlook Calendar. Today, I was unable to add the updated URL for the tripit calendar feed to my Microsoft 365 Outlook calendar. When I tried to add the URL under "add calendar/from internet" by pasting in the URL, I get an Microsoft error message that something went wrong. This did not happen previously.

Thanks

Craig

Hi - you don't need to use the Google calendar hack (which I can confirm no longer works anyway).

Please review the post from Orange Fox pasted here:

I discovered the fix. It is a setting in the Outlook program*.

    FIX:
    In Outlook (on your PC)
Select File > Account Settings> Account SettingsSelect the Data Files tab
Highlight your default Outlook account (ie. yourname @ outlook . com)
    Select Settings>Advanced tab
Uncheck "Turn on shared calendar improvements"
    Click OK and Close.
    Close and restart Outlook.
Then add your Tripit calendar and select Yes to the pop up.

I was able to add my Tripit feed and have confirmed via a few days of testing that it updates properly when I add, delete, or change things in Tripit. So far, so good. I also added a second Tripit feed, and replicated this same fix on another person's computer.

    Hope this helps someone.

    All,

So this Tripit > Gmail Calendar > Outlook 365 works for me. It is not fast on the updates, but within 1-4 hours my travel events show up on my outlook calendar.

This is by definition a KLUDGE! Let's hope Microsoft and/or Tripit fix the problem so the direct connection we all used to count on works again. But until then, this is better than downloading and uploading each trip.

    Here is what I did:

    1. In Tripit (old interface, the new website... room for another rant):
      1. MyName > Settings > Subscribe > Subscribe to Calendar Feed
      2. Copy the .ics URL
    2. In Gmail Calendar
      1. Other calendars > + (Add other calendars) > From URL
      2. Paste in the URL
      3. Check (turn on) "Make the calendar publicly accessible"
      4. Add Calendar
      5. Hover over the new calendar under "Other Calenders" and click on the three vertical dots > Settings
      6. Give it a good name and description
      7. Scroll down to Integrate calendar
      8. Grab the URL under "Public address in iCal format"
    3. Outlook 365 Calendar Page (Desktop App)
      1. Scroll down to "Other Calendars" and right mouse button on "Other Calendars"
      2. Choose Add Calendar > From Internet
      3. Paste in the Gmail URL

That should work. I'm not sure how to force an update on the Gmail or Outlook side. It seems to take a bit of time to update.

    Good luck!

    Eric

I contacted Tripit today regarding the feed no longer working in Office365. Here is their response. "We do not support our calendar syncing with MS 365 as it does not update consistently but it has been possible to add the feed. It appears to be an issue on Microsoft's end. I'd recommend contacting them"

Will you please escalate this to the Microsoft development team? We need to be able to import Tripit calendars.

I am in the same boat. This feature has worked for years. Now it doesn't. Microsoft, please prioritize this.

It is a very important feature for me that helps me keep my travel straight.

    Thanks!

    Eric
