BlackBerry android devices or any Google device can't connect to outlook server

Hello, I have changed my password with outlook and after I tried to updated with BlackBerry hub services either on my android device or Pixel 8 can't authenticate or connect to server errors persists. Microsoft Azure certificate comes faulty as well and I need a solution for it because it looks like nobody in this office using BlackBerry hub app in pixel 8 and even BlackBerry key2 can't connect to outlook. After uninstall and reinstall does the same "can't connect to server" or "can't authenticate" error not on exchange server, imap or pop. I tried everything and Microsoft seems not to answer questions about it.

    WalterJJ,

You could try the solution of IMAP for your hotmail account on your BB Motion but I'm not sure if Microsoft Authenticator will work on Android 8 0.

But if you want to give the hub another go, download and install MS authenticator on your Motion, and add your Hotmail account to it. Go into "Update how you sign in and verify". Then go into "App passwords". Copy that App password for your email password to put into your Hotmail account that you setup in the hub. Remember this part.

Once you're in the hub, setup your account but clicking on the cog ⚙️ icon or going into settings then into manage accounts. Add an account here and enter your email address but don't click next. Instead do a manual setup but clicking that in the lower left of your screen. Then choose IMAP and enter the email server and port information exactly which I posted previously above say about 10 postings ago. I've been using my hub on my two hotmail and one outlook account without any issues. No more authentication issues on my accounts popping up, etc. I have access to all my emails folders as well. So until Microsoft or BB fix the Microsoft Exchange handshaking issues, this has been the best solution for me.

Thanks very Much Saxacat: my android version shows 8.1.0 I do not know where the software info is located, however likely not important. New issue = Certificate error when I change the office365.com default to office.live.com = Identity of certificate cannot be verified, click on trust anyway = Accounts your *** hotmail.com can't be verified. If i change server name to outlook.live.com/mail/ then error shows can't connect to server, update settings!! What is odd to me when I cancel my attempt to make changes, the go back in again the default Server name still shows Outlook.office365.com... why does it revert back to this account, I do not have an office365 account my previous employer did. They let me keep the phone and same number and I changed it all over to a personal phone account with same cell provider. It almost seems to me this is still tied into my employers account somehow. However why can I access emails from my phone using google instead of what is setup under account server settings?

Long story short I have given UP on getting HUB to work with MS! However I did locate a Outlook Light APP and installed it instead, previous suggested App by MS was not compatible. I tested it from my PC to my Hotmail and it was very fast to arrive to my phone... so it appears will simply have to use this APP until MS resolves their current issues. At least I have my phone able to email again for now.

    Hi,

I'm not sure if any of this will help, but here goes.

Since this started, I have deleted my Hotmail account and all the Blackberry software form my phone and Tab (Galaxy S24U, Tab S5e) numerous times on both devices and have managed to reinstall them each time, albeit taking many attempts.

I would suggest trying to add your Hotmail using the Blackberry Hub Services, just using the default settings. If you get told authentication has failed just keep resending it, it often takes tens of times, but in my case it eventually accepted it (I sometimes left it a while, in frustration). I am currently not using two-step authentication on my Hotmail account, purely because it's a hassle generating passwords; but it has worked using both types.

Mine is currently working, I am still getting the change password message, and sometimes I will try and input my password, sometimes it takes it, sometimes it doesn't, but even when it doesn't, if I leave it, the app does eventually synch with the server later.

My Phone is obviously running Android 14, but the Tab is running Android 11, the version of the Blackberry software on both is the same. Not sure what version of Android your Motion will be running, but I suspect the Blackberry software will be the same as mine 2.2346.1.234602215

I hope this helps, with luck and a bit of perseverance, you may be able to get your Hotmail up and running; however, there is still an issue, that I'm not sure is going away anytime soon.

I have a Blackberry Motion that used to have a work email account with Office 365, Phone supplied by my corporation- I have since retired and they allowed me to keep this phone for personal use, same phone number also. At the same time I also had my personal Hotmail account on this phone, and cannot access any longer. keeps asking for password update, tried to configure the server name that is showing outlook.office365.com and attempt to change to outlook.live.com/mail and get error message cannot connect to server, when using the default outlook.office365.com and any attempts to change the server name, REVERTS Back to server for office365 when you close settings. Any suggestions as I obviously do not have any admin access to office365 account or their AZURE settings, that my company setup originally. In addition Microsoft does not have any Outlook app available for this android BB- phone, tried that also. Note; also can access this same Hotmail account on any of my computers, so I know the account is good. Do I have to live now with no email service on my Phone? This all started early Jan with still receiving emails, however could not return or start a new email (web page not available net::ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE) & has been going on now since Jan 24 2024, my last email received on my phone... Someone must know what changes they made to their systems earlier this year.

Thank you. In connection with the tip from SevOnyshkevych on enabling POP via a browser, this has worked for me on BB Hub+. The odd thing was that it allowed me to set up one Outlook email account in the usual way, but then went back to all the error message problems described in this thread.
