Why is Mac Outlook Legacy not working today?

I am a support consultant for many customers. Getting a bunch of calls this morning (03/21/2024) about Legacy Mac version 16.8x and above not syncing.

If they switch to New Outlook, no issues. Online is also working.

Why would Legacy stop working today for some? Running Mac OS X 13.x and 14.x with same issue.

Please advise.

    Both my coworker who can now connect, and myself who now can't connect are running the same version.

    One of the issues which is not clear is whether the version of outlook for mac has anything to do with why some people are seeing success and others not. I already mentioned the issue of how Microsoft distributes the fix on its servers and possible lack of uniformity depending on their location. Though it should not be an issue (at it seems to be a server side problem), I wonder if the outlook for mac version number might be affected differently depending on whatever fix they did. I am succesfully running version 16.77.1 which is a bit older. Might be worth checking if people seeing success are running older versions of outlook for mac vs. people still not connecting.

    No. I am from the UK and it still isn't working. My last sync was 21-03-2024 at 17:16GMT. Useless!
