Using classic Outlook for Windows in business environments
Outlook is going downhill real quick.
I am closing my outlook account for personal use and going to gmail since they can handle spam appropriately.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
This is the WORST spam filtering of any of my email programs.
I am constantly getting junk in my inbox and important emails are sent to spam.
Even my upcoming vacation flight emails from delta airlines and other businesses. This is causing havoc and stress I don't need!
What are my options? Increase spam filtering and send more important emails to junk?
Lessen spam filtering and get more junk in my inbox????

I have had this problem for some time now, and it keeps getting worse.
The "create a rule" construct is severely underpowered. It's is case-sensitive, won't detect lengths of addresses, won't let you specify to filter cases where the sender and the reply-to addresses are different (which - why can't the server filter do even that much??)
I did finally figure out how to file a bug directly with Microsoft. Their response was - set your preferences to only accept things you say are safe. Which is fine until you realize that forces you to go re-validate what is in your spam folder along with the validation we are already doing with the inbox. So I pointed that out.
The response? "Be more careful about where you have your email address".
That's the Microsoft position - do nothing and blame the user.
Pathetic.

The only way to do it is through outlook for desktop. But it is not possible to access that feature from desktop unless one pays for a subscription.
Please advise if this is correct. Most email service providers offer a free product (gmail, outlook, etc.) but if I have to pay in order to set a very basic spam filter, this will be very helpful in informing my decision of which service provider to continue to use.
Thank you in advance for your response.
You can create rules for mail in the Inbox when accessing https://outlook.live.com with a browser.
Many people don't understand that if outlook is sending mail to Junk that mail is considered "blocked" and you cannot create a rule to delete it or do anything else.
A user cannot create a rule that blocks mail at the server so that it doesn't reach the account at all.
What will determine whether or not you receive Spam is whether or not the address has been leaked, harvested or obtained through a database hack.
They left out hacked databases, but there's good info here:
