Spam filter in hotmail not working.

Everyday I am getting the same couple of pieces of spam email in my hotmail inbox, spam that usually goes to my spam/junk mail box. While most of the spam mail still goes to right box, these couple get through to my inbox. Several months ago all my spam went to my inbox for 4-5 days, maybe 3-350 spam mails a day in my inbox. At the time I noticed many others complaining of the same problem. Microsoft (or someone) was able to stop it last time. I hope someone can stop it this time before all my spam ends up in my inbox. I should add that I use an iPad, not a laptop or computer.

I've had Hotmail since the very beginning in the 90s and it was my primary inbox until earlier this year when the spam started to become overwhelming.
Almost nothing is caught by the filter, capabilities to setup your own filters are impossible and even the little that you can do, its UI is so difficult to work with.

I am in the process of shifting my personal inbox to Gmail in combination with a Google Workspace account. I keep changing the email address for any active account I stumble upon. I know that would take months or even a year, but I'm hoping that sometime soon I can disable the Outlook app notifications altogether.

For Microsoft, if anyone is actually monitoring anything here, you are losing your core customer base that were loyal for so many decades.
I owned (every version of) Windows OS's, Office, XBOX, Windows Phone, Azure, Visual Studio, and many more, but these days just like many enterprises I am shifting away to because you are no longer in-tune with your users, simple as that.

Maybe that's on purpose and this rant was for nothing, like others suggest here.

I'm sorry but there IS definitely something wrong. It was like a lightbulb going out on spam filtration. I can't remember exactly when it started for me. A few months ago. This isn't a rule thing or a "let me monitor my boxes daily" thing. Microsoft definitely made a decision on how much energy they are going to put into hotmail users. I've had this email for geez.... decades I think. It's only just one so I'm considering getting rid of it completely. Given that the issue has been brought to their attention and nothing has changed at least for months then it's pretty obvious they aren't going to fix it. Thanks hotmail... it's been real. But I guess it's time to move on.

Or, at the very least, communicate with the engineering team and let people know that Microsoft is aware of the deeper issue and is working to resolve it. I have to imagine it has not escaped their notice.

    Hello! My name is Mustafa,

I am hopeful that I will be able to help you find a satisfactory solution.

Note: This is a user-to-user support forum and I am a fellow user.

Blocking these emails is not really the best option as the spammers can change the email address and still be able to send emails.

A better way to deal with these is to create rules to block certain words that you have noticed a pattern of in the spam that you receive.

You can learn how to do it in this article from Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/bloc...

Please refer to the "Create a rule to remove unwanted email"

And you can also "block all unknown senders" you can learn how to do it in the same article above.

Please let me know if this doesn't work or if you need further assistance.

    Warm Regards,

    Mustafa

And I gave the article for outlook for the web since creating rules is not available in the iPad version. So you would have to go to a browser> login to your account> and from the corner menu option> choose desktop mode And follow the steps in the article.

Let m e know if you need further assistance.

    Mustafa
