Spam filter in hotmail not working.

Everyday I am getting the same couple of pieces of spam email in my hotmail inbox, spam that usually goes to my spam/junk mail box. While most of the spam mail still goes to right box, these couple get through to my inbox. Several months ago all my spam went to my inbox for 4-5 days, maybe 3-350 spam mails a day in my inbox. At the time I noticed many others complaining of the same problem. Microsoft (or someone) was able to stop it last time. I hope someone can stop it this time before all my spam ends up in my inbox. I should add that I use an iPad, not a laptop or computer.

Yeah, I have a secondary account with another provider I may migrate to. Some people think I'm making a big deal, but simplicity is important to me.

Yes, and freaking out helps too.

here's how I manage all the spam I receive and I have no stress

    • Scan Inbox, move spam to Junk
    • Scan Junk, move legit to Inbox
    • Empty Junk

That's it. No freaking out, no rules, no safelists, no blocks, just simple, easy peazy and it takes a couple minutes a day.

Now you can go enjoy something more enjoyable and just casually wait until the issue is fixed by Microsoft.

    No need to thank me!

    Bonne chance!

We are just fellow users here, there's no one to escalate this non-issue.

There's no magic algorithm that stops all spam. It's a constant battle. Some weeks the spammers win, some weeks the email providers do.

    These temporary issues will pass.

In the meantime here's the no stress way to manage your mailbox

    1. Scan your Inbox for spam and move to the Junk Folder
    2. Scan the Junk Folder for legit and move to Inbox
    3. Empty Junk Folder

That's it. No rules, no lists, no muss, no fuss. Do that a minute a day and you are free to do other things more useful!

    Bonne chance!

I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. Let's ask other advisors and fellow Microsoft users for other suggestions that might help.

They would be able to respond to this thread and share their input.

Your patience will be highly appreciated.

    Regards,

Hello, I understand that your laptop is old which is why I am giving the steps for the web version which you can access through your phone or iPad browser.

I said this in a follow-up to my first response:

"I gave the article for Outlook for the web since creating rules is not available in the iPad version. So you would have to go to a browser> login to your account> and from the corner menu option> choose desktop mode And follow the steps in the article."

So you can take all the steps in the article from your phone or iPad's browser.

The issue with sending emails and receiving emails has caused some to receive an extra amount of spam in their inbox, which is why this could be affecting you as well.

    Mustafa
