Spam filter in hotmail not working.

Everyday I am getting the same couple of pieces of spam email in my hotmail inbox, spam that usually goes to my spam/junk mail box. While most of the spam mail still goes to right box, these couple get through to my inbox. Several months ago all my spam went to my inbox for 4-5 days, maybe 3-350 spam mails a day in my inbox. At the time I noticed many others complaining of the same problem. Microsoft (or someone) was able to stop it last time. I hope someone can stop it this time before all my spam ends up in my inbox. I should add that I use an iPad, not a laptop or computer.

    Its crazy unprofessional, the biggest tech company in the world cant even fix a small spam filter problem..

    Im sooo about to drop my 18 year old account at them just because of this spam problem..

    Its unbelievable. Like they just dont even care!!!

    but is Rules functions are terrible, it mistakenly move all Non spam and important emails to the Junk folder as well.

    The advertisers win hands down and I don't know if you have noticed but the "internet" as I knew it way back in the late 1990's is unrecognisable today as it has turned into an infuriating commercial cesspit and gets worse with every passing year. I have been using Hotmail for well over 20 years now and how I describe it is basically how it works, the internet is no longer about retrieving or receiving information as it has become a slave to advertisers and corporate greed to the point that it is self destructing. Probably a doom & gloom opinion of it but when we are now being forced to use AI to get proper information because the current search system is corrupt then we are all going to get the same answers to different questions and that simply polarisation of knowledge and this sickens me.

    You can use gmail as I do but then you also know that everything that is sent and received is data for google to sell, a paid email address is exactly the same only you are paying for your info to be collected and sold.

    Mine isn't working either. My emails I want go to junk. Checked filters, added blocks and still broken. Time to find a better service.

    Hello Kim,

    There are spam messages that Microsoft do not allow you to block as they are not considered as "bad actors" i.e. the email address has been cleared by the Hotmail filter as "legit" and 90% of these email addresses are advertisements from known advertisers and therefore you cannot "block" the email address, try it for yourself.

    Point A: Why do they insist on putting them in my junk folder?

    Point B: Why can I not block the sender?

    Point C: If they are classified as "junk" and I can block other "junk" emails then why am I not permitted to block that particular email address, it's not normal behavior on the part of Microsoft.

    The only solution to this is to permit the user to have the ability to block ALL incoming emails that they do not want or have not asked for. The automatic "report as phishing" is also ineffective at blocking unwanted email addresses as the same principle applies to advertisements from known advertisers. Gmail has this down to a fine art and I maybe get 4 or 5 spam emails a year. It means that YOU are in control of your inbox & junk box, period.

    I keep getting the same spam from known advertisers and therefore I cannot "block" the email address nor does reporting it as "phishing" work = broken system due to simple lack of control for the end user, you & me.
