Spam filter in hotmail not working.

Everyday I am getting the same couple of pieces of spam email in my hotmail inbox, spam that usually goes to my spam/junk mail box. While most of the spam mail still goes to right box, these couple get through to my inbox. Several months ago all my spam went to my inbox for 4-5 days, maybe 3-350 spam mails a day in my inbox. At the time I noticed many others complaining of the same problem. Microsoft (or someone) was able to stop it last time. I hope someone can stop it this time before all my spam ends up in my inbox. I should add that I use an iPad, not a laptop or computer.

This isn't a good answer. Gmail doesn't have the same issues that have been plaguing outlook inboxes. I've received 10+ spam emails in the past 2-3 hours. Something is seriously broken in Microsoft's end and you need to escalate this issue rather than offer rudimentary solutions.

Well, I can’t see anything in the tool bar to select that says Block >Block Sender, but in any case I am sure that would be as useless as creating rules. I used the “Report as Junk” several times, but that stopped nothing. I have used “create rules” and so far have 10 rules, but this is like sticking your finger in a dyke that is leaking. The spam just keeps coming, and I keep having to create a new rule! This is absurd! The site you gave me to check on problems now says everything is working and there are no problems😖😖😖😡😡😡.

Hi. I totally agree, nice to learn I am not the only one with the problem!. It isn’t the first time this problem has come up. I have had this hotmail address for so many years that it would be a real headache for me to change it, and I prefer it to gmail, but I don’t want to spend my life deleting spam from my inbox, or adding endless and absurd spam email addresses to a blocked list. If this keeps up, I will switch to gmail.

Hi Mustafa. Thank you for your reply. I am pretty sure that you gave me the same advice when this problem occurred on a bigger scale some time ago. At that time, you sent another reply saying that, since others were having the same problem, it was likely a problem with the server. I don’t know if others are having the same problem this time. In any case, my laptop is so old that it still runs on Windows 7. I actually never use it, but when I tried to turn it on yesterday, it wouldn’t turn on. However, when I wrote about this problem a few days ago, the same two spam emails were coming to my inbox. Now those two are coming several times a day, plus 4-5 others. It is painfully obvious that all but one of these are spam/phishing emails—-for example, I have won a set a power tools, my antivirus has expired, I have won a gift certificate, etc. Why does the spam filter not pick them up, when it picks up others?

I think it might be a problem to do with hotmail itself. The previous two times this occurred it was definitely a problem with the server. The only difference this time is that some spam is still being filtered to the spam folder, whereas the previous times all spam went to my inbox.

Thank you for trying to help. I do appreciate that you at least took the time to reply.

I am experiencing the same issue. I am receiving upwards of 40 obvious spam emails every day. I am so sick of it. I block senders, set up rules all of the above and still nothing. I set up a rule and ran a sweep and it did nothing. Microsoft is absolute garbage at the moment. Will have to move to Gmail. If they cant fix this issue I dont trust that information would be safe with them.
I have no reported over 100 emails direct to Microsoft as well. If they cant stop me getting Spam then they shall receive every single one of them too.
