How do I stop the Yahoo sign-in request pop-up on my Outlook 365 Inbox?

. Do you know how I can get tech support to walk me through this process. I filled out the form on Microsoft for tech support, got a call and they hung up.

As for not having the courage to try, nothing in those instructions would cause any irreparable harm if you just follow things step-by-step. It's really not as hard as it may seem. Besides, if you're uncertain about any given step, can always ask a question here. Why not try and see how it goes? You might just surprise yourself. Remember, there's always a first time for everyone (including me).

I don't think I have the courage to go through the steps, I just don't have enough experience to be confidence following your instructions. Sorry for the typo on yahoo. But thank you for trying. I used tech support to set up yahoo in outlook and manage the folders. Do you know how I can get tech support to walk me through this process.  My outlook email is listed and the type is Microsoft Exchange (send from this account by default)

Gmail is listed and the type is IMAP/ SMTP

yahoo is listed and the type is IMAP/ SMTP

Given your answers, the solution to what you want to accomplish "get rid of the Yahoo account log in issue but keep all the Yahpp data" is a simple one

#1 -Export the Yahoo mailbox to a PST file

Export or backup email, contacts, and calendar to an Outlook .pst file https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/export-or-backup-email-contacts-and-calendar-to-an-outlook-pst-file-14252b52-3075-4e9b-be4e-ff9ef1068f91

#2 - When done, add the exported PST file to Outlook and make sure everything exported correctly. That's done by going to

File --> Open & Export --> Open Outlook Data File --> browse to the PST file and select it so it's added to Outlook

#3 - From the Outlook Nav Pane (left panel otherwise called the "Folder List" check the folders in the data file and make sure it has everything contained that you want. If you happen to see a folder that appears empty

a) with the folder selected, click on the <View> tab on the Ribbon

b) click on "Change View" - you should see the same options as shown in the screenshot

c) click on IMAP messages and / or Hide Messages (sorry, its been a long time since I last tested this so forget which of the two actually controls things). You missing items should now appear

#4 - Once you are happy that hte PST file has all your data, just a matter of removing Yahoo from the Outlook profile

File -- Account Settings -- Account Settings -- Email tab

*** select the Yahoo account --> click on<Remove>

If you get an error saying that you can't remove the account because the OST file for the account is set as the default data file, go to

<File> --> <Account Settings> --> <Account Settings> --> <Data Files> tab

*** select another data file and click on "Set as default" at which point you will then be able to remove the Yahoo account

All done 😊

This worked for me: under account settings in outlook, then under server settings, server settings for AT&T used to be imap.mail.yahoo.com for incoming, smtp.mail.yahoo.com for outgoing. AT&T was super lazy about using yahoo for awhile. At least for me as I have had them for a long time and my email extension is old. New server setting for incoming mail is imap.mail.att.net, outgoing mail is smtp.mail.att.net. I changed to these settings and it cleared the issue up and all is fixed now. For those of you with some other carrier, did they resort to using yahoo for awhile? Check your server settings.

#1 - A Yahoo account would never be configured as an Exchange account. So in terms of the Outlook desktop program, what accounts do you see listed in the Outlook profile? That's done from within Outlook by going to

<File> --> <Account Settings> --> <Account Settings> --> <Email> tab

#2 - Just going by the description without knowing anything else, you have a Yahoo account configured as a "connected account" to an Outlook.com based account which would have had to be done prior to May 10th, 2021.

To check this, log into that account via a browser using this link

Outlook.com Login

Once logged into the account, check to see if you have the Yahoo account configured as a "connected account" - done by

a) click on the <Gear> (Settings) icon - top right

b) select Mail --> Sync Email

The yahoo account is not listed and I do not see “connected accounts”  the only thing I see is an alias I set up and the primary email selected.

If you see the Yahoo account listed, select it and click on the <Trash> icon. This will remove the account but not remove anything that has already been downloaded.
