Outlook for Mac not opening or downloading attachments

Hi there,

my Outlook for Mac does not download or open any attachments.

The issue persists with various file types such as jpeg, xls, pdf.

The workaround with downloading the files and opening them from the finder does not work, as I am unable to save the attachments. I do see the attachments by name and icon (e.g. Apple Preview PDF icon)

macOS and Outlook are up-to-date:

macOS Version: 12.5

Outlook Version:16.64

The issue appeared on my newly installed Macbook Air M2 with macOS Monterey. On the old Macbook Pro before I did not encounter this issue.

As is, I just cannot work with an Email client not opening attachments. Thanks in advance for any solution.

Best regards,

ste_si

*** Update: Seems to be caused by the "new Outlook". Going back to the legacy Version solves the issue, everything works fine. Anyone else experiencing this issue? ***

I've had the same problem with my MacBook Pro M1, Sonoma 14.1. It has also happened to my wife's MacBook Air M2 at a similar time. I tried various 'fixes' including recommendations from Microsoft's knowledge base, but they didn't immediately fix the issue. Ultimately the issue went away (for now), but I can't identify a specific remedy. So I think it's a really difficult issue to replicate and remediate. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

My Mac has just started doing (or not doing) this and as far as I know, nothing has changed. Never had a problem before.

I can open older PDF attachments but not recent ones!

Apple M1 chip, MacBook Pro 2020, OS Sonoma 14.0

Are there any solutions apart from going back to legacy Outlook?

    Hi

I have a new Macbook Air with Ventura pre-installed. It's on version 13.6.1. I bought and downloaded Microsoft Office 2021 and have the same problem many have described. Outlook does not open attachments. I have cleared the cache, synchronised the system, opened and closed everything, but nothing works. This is very annoying as there are a number of important attachments I need to open. Please Microsoft or someone, send a solution.

    Yours hopefully,

    Ragnhild
