How to remove "External" tag in Outlook subject lines

Recently my outlook business account has started tagging emails as "External" with a massive grey box that takes up a third of the available space it the preview pane. It was bad enough in the subject lines but this is making my inbox unusable.

Whoever designed it obviously doesn't use email.

Is there a way to disable the External Tagging?

    Ah. NO. I am the administrator of my exchange account and all devices connected to it and I have NOT set anything of the kind, nor been advised that it was being unilaterally implemented via an update.

    If it hasn't already been suggested - the simplest solution I have found is move the 'From' column to a position other than first - I usually have 'Received' then 'From', followed by other columns.

    If you do this - you cant search your emails by FROM as before so have had to put it back ..... really annoying

    Your ability to search by From field doesn't go anywhere this way. Your ability to sort by clicking on the field header however indeed goes away. You can easily work around this by using the Arrange By command or by leaving the original header as a (small) column.
