After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

    Update time: been using the New Outlook now over a day and have had absolutely no glitches, belches from Yahoo or anything else. Everything works quite smoothly and the only negative I have found is moving folders, via drag & drop, is crippled. Otherwise, there are many new likeable/improved features such as contacts, message composing, etc.

    The Settings are more robust and it takes a little time to learn all the changed screen navigation points so there is a slight learning curve.  For me, clearly the New Outlook is much better than the Legacy version and at this point I have no intention of going back.  Having said that I won’t unravel the folder structure I created to work around the Outlook/Yahoo beast just yet to be on the safe side.

    Finally, I still don’t trust M$ because this was preventable and there was almost zero support and that was as dismal at it comes (typical for M$).  I’m still convinced M$ rocked everyone’s boat to push us overboard into the New Outlook.

    Okay, RetiredGeek ... I'm gonna hold off trying to move my Exchange email to Apple Mail (I've encountered some issues) and will wait to see if you report back with continued success with "new" Outlook.

    Hi Diane ... I actually don't need the On My Computer feature - I seem to be one of the few who never used it. My concern continues to be the constant emptying of random folders in Outlook during syncs with my Yahoo account. I'm a little gun shy at the moment, so I'm sitting tight to see if others are able to stabilize their situations with "new" Outlook. If it looks like the situation has been resolved via new Outlook, I'll probably make the switch to it rather than start over at my advanced age with Apple Mail.

    Thank goodness I found this thread!I have been experiencing all the issues posted here for at least 2 months. If I had a dollar for every hour I've gone around and around with ATT because my passwords for my four accounts were continually being rejected, I could take a really nice vacation:) ATT kept telling me it was because someone was trying to break into my accounts. I knew that was highly unlikely since I use a pretty complicated password program, plus it continued to let me enter the "old" password! It did't occur to me that Microsoft was the problem until an entire Inbox would disappear & then reappear. or emails would reappear in the my Junk folder quicker than I could delete them! I had switched to the "new" outlook when I did the last update, but quickly changed back when all my folders accumulated over 2 decades disappeared too. When I switched to a Mac years ago, I tried Apple Mail, but found moving all my saved folders unsuccessful. Apple mail wasn't working, so I switched to Outlook for Mac. I'm encouraged by the solutions some of you have found and am going to give them a try after I can get my mail boxes cleared some on Yahoo. Thanks to all of you have given me hope for a return to mailbox sanity!

    OK Diane - I threw the switch - more out of desperation than fear.

    So far so good. Switch over to the New Outlook was smooth and it took about a half an hour to import my "On my computer" folders . A quick check and everything appears to have been imported, including emails & folders from years ago and emails I moved to On my computer folders last week.

    Only thing missing is Rules. However, my Yahoo (Epix) Deleted folder was filled up with everything I had deleted since 1/24 of this year. Likewise for Junk mail but only for the month of April. On my Exchange account the Delete folder was filled with everything I deleted since 5/26. In all cases the these folders were empty before I made the switch.

    Anyhow, I'll be watching closely for the Yahoo plague and any other glitches. Thanks.

    New Outlook has the "One My Computer" folders and should offer to import them from the legacy profile - it did for me when it was introduced a while back (I'm using beta channel)... and my Yahoo account doesn't constantly refresh.

    You can switch back and forth between the two versions.
