Outlook External Email Tag

Hello Everyone,

I have an employee that opened a ticket with my help desk about his Outlook Desktop Application. Yesterday he noticed an "External" tag that appeared on his inbox in front of the Sender. Is this a new Outlook feature or is there a way to remove this tag from view. Our organization already has a tag inside the email warning employee's of the external/internal status of the email.

Other users including myself do not see this in their Desktop Apps, we do see it in the Online Version of Outlook though.

    Playing around with this formula and works great, but when I added it to my view it showed another workaround.

    The external tag only shows if the build in "From" column is the first "text" based field.

    I swapped the received column in front of "From" and the label disappears.

    Tried a few others like mention, categories, auto forwarded, read etc but that did not work.

    Had to be a "text" field like received, subject, sensitivity, size.

    I understand the intent of this new feature, but it's a very poor execution. It makes the Inbox super busy and makes it hard to find emails with a simple glance.

    A simple icon or message INSIDE the email would be a much better idea.

    In one sense the UI design works well, I can't not see the 'External' tag so I'm definitely aware the message is External. However, it's also made it really hard for me to read the email summaries, so effectively stopping that list working for me.

    How about moving the External tag to after the recipient's name in the From field instead of before it? I think that would make the list easier to read.

    No - it is simply hiding the tag. So works on old or new emails. The tag is still there if you redisplay the original 'From' field, but if the External tag annoys you in your view you can hide it away but still be able to see whom your emails are from.
