Outlook.com "Sync Email" settings - "Unable to load these settings. Please try again later."

I realize this might be a bit too complicated for most, apologies for that, but it's the best I could do for now. It basically boils down to Outlook.com returning a server error (HTTP status code 500) for one of the settings that used to be on the 'Sync email' settings panel, causing all of the other (mostly unrelated) settings on that panel to fail loading as well. By following the steps outlined above, we can essentially 'trick' the browser into believing that the server-side error never occurred, after which it will load all of the settings except for the one setting that was seemingly removed by Microsoft (which causes the server error). So this is basically a client-side error caused by a server-side error.

Unfortunately, as you rightfully say, a bit too complicated for a lot of us, including me.

Nonetheless, I will try following instructions and see what happens.

Maybe there is somebody out there that can write a simple macro or batch file that would be easy to implement.

It is a very poor move from Microsoft.

As another poster has written, if the sync access to an account starts to fail, the Outlook.com will get constant messages to the Outlook.com email account warning of that failure, and these failures may result in the sync'd account being locked out.

I understand Microsoft can make changes and reduce the functionality of a free email account, but has it the right to inflict this on the user base?

I should add that Microsoft should have flagged this change with a simple advance warnig on the sync page indicating that this facility would not longer be accessible. Instead the nonsensical "Try again later" is still displayed though apparently the page will never be displayed again.

? Apple.

The Email account I am trying to sync with Outlook is hosted by a local university.

I am not clear which email service you want to make your primary account, so I will cover both.

1. Make Gmail your primary, ie it will retrieve email from your other accounts.

In Gmail. select Quick Settings, then all Settings, then Forwarding and IMAP/POP and set up the accounts you want to retrieve

That works fine.

2. Outlook on the web (outlook.com) as primary

As in my earlier post, this is no longer available despite the idiotic message "Try again later" on the sync page.
