this is my view in the "Day" tab. the blue time bar has disappeared. the one that advances with the current time.

In the week view, the blue line is there but it extends across previous days but not to the current one or future dates.

anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you for your response. I am still on V2102. I'll have to ask my IT dept. and see if we can update.

To all. While doing some research on this topic I came across  outlooks-calendar-gets-a-refresh from March 2013. They share that the Time Indicator Bar is classified as a new feature!
