Emails sent using Outlook & outlook.com account (on HP Laptop, iMac & iPhone) to a family bigpond.net.au address are not getting through for last 3 days. Web-version does not appear to have this problem.

I'm not very tech so struggling with all the articles with similar messages & solutions.

Does anyone have a simple explanation/solution I could follow?

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

"******@bigpond.net.au"
Your message wasn't delivered. Despite repeated attempts to deliver your message, a connection to the remote server couldn't be made.

Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that your email system is unable to connecto their email system. Give them the error details shown below. It's likely that the recipient's email admin is the only one who can fix this problem.

Microsoft can be very good on some aspects of assistance. When I first raised the issue back on 17 November I had a long phone call from the US initiated through the Help system wherein my system was checked but the fault not found or fixed. A second long phone call resulted in the same outcome - so they really did try to help. It was when it was elevated to technical support that the lengthy pauses in communication were present. The technical people don't do phone calls. The Microsoft support number in Australia takes you through a list of things and tells you all help is online, and then hangs up on you. It took me some time to find a number with a person on the end. This is not good enough to deal with rare complex issues such as this one has been. But the fact that it involved so many other users really does make one wonder about the benefit of these Community sites where the silence from MS was deafening. So high marks for the initial help, and it is great that it was finally fixed, but keeping the community in the loop needs a lot more attention.

Yep! It now works for me too.

A final thought to Microsoft: PLEASE keep your frustrated customers/users informed on what steps you are taking to resolve any issues. What frustrated/irritated me on this issue was not the length of time it took to resolve the problem - it was not knowing if anyone was working on it. It should not have been up to David to persevere, eventually talk to a real person and let the rest of us know what was happening. The need for good communication is a large part of Customer Relations 101 - and, in my mind, Microsoft achieved a "F".

Wonderful..at last.....but what a journey to get it fixed when it never should have happened in the first place.
