New Outlook.com (Hotmail) sign-in page : Autofill/Autocomplete not working?

Today a new style of sign-in page appeared for Outlook.com (Hotmail) — and autofill/autocomplete doesn't work for the e-mail address field!

I have several e-mail addresses, and until now I've only needed to enter the first letter to get the dropdown list. Now there's no dropdown list. I have to type the full e-mail address each time I sign in. As I often switch between accounts, and you have to sign out of one to be able to sign in to another, this loss of autofill is very frustrating and time-wasting.

It's not a browser-related problem: it happens in 3 different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE).

It's not computer-related: it happens on 3 different computers.

It happens only with the Outlook.com (Hotmail) sign-in. On other websites, autofill still works for e-mail address fields.

I can only assume that Microsoft's developers have blocked autofill/autocomplete on this new sign-in page. If this is a deliberate choice, then why? It's extremely annoying and time-wasting. If it's just a mistake, I hope that MS will correct it very quickly.

Has anyone else discovered the problem?  Does anyone have a solution or a workaround?

    Harshavardhan,

We are still waiting for you (or some other Forum Moderator or Support Engineer) to get back to us ... and let us know whether YOU have been able PERSONALLY verify that auto-fill is working when YOU sign on to outlook.

To quote a country song Micro Soft's attitude is "Here's a quarter call someone who cares"

Not only is the problem not fixed but they have ignored it for 6+ weeks, obviously these people either never sign out or they do not use outlook/hotmail themselves.  All it would take is sign in, sign out try to sign in again, and again, and again, ad nauseum, to find out that it is NOT fixed. Stand erect and come into the light (PULL YOUR HEAD OUT micro soft)

    Harshavardhan,

As I previously mentioned, auto-fill on the sign in page still DOES NOT WORK FOR ME.

I just tried three browsers (IE11, Firefox, Chrome) and the bug is NOT FIXED.

In each of those three browsers ... I tried signing on to Outlook, Netflix, Gmail, and Facebook. In those cases, auto-fill DID NOT WORK for Outlook, but it did work for Netflix, Gmail, and Facebook. This shows that the problem is not in the browser. The problem is in the implementation of Microsoft's Account Sign in page.

I also tried two separate desktop computers (each running Windows 7).

Harshavardhan:  try signing on yourself and let us know if it works for you. If it does not work for you, then you need to get back to whomever told you that the bug was fixed and let them know that the bug is NOT FIXED.

Perhaps Microsoft has a new version of the sign on page .... and the bug is fixed in the new version. If that is the case, then ....

    1. Please find out how we can tell what version of the sign on page we are using. If you look at the HTML source for the sign in page (right click a blank area in the sign in page and select "view source") ... the first three lines contain something that looks like version numbers. If that is the case, then what version number of the sign on page has the fix in it.
    2. If the bug is fixed in a new version of the sign in page, then how can we get that new version? Is there a separate URL we can use to insure that we get the latest version of the sign in page?

We need YOU to do some troubleshooting and some research and find out if this bug has really been fixed, and (if so) how can we get to the appropriate sign in page.

    You stated this:

Please feel free to contact us, if you need any further help we would be glad to assist you.

Well, I am contacting you and asking for further assistance in finding out if this bug has really been fixed and (if so) how we can get to the fixed sign in page.

    ... awaiting your assistance!!!!!

As of now the Auto-fill issue has been fixed in the backend, I suggest you to check and revert if it doesn’t work.

Please feel free to contact us, if you need any further help we would be glad to assist you.

    Harshavardhan,

It has NOT been fixed!!!  Auto-complete/Auto-fill still does NOT work for the Outlook.com sign-in page — neither in Internet Explorer nor in Chrome.

I have typed in each of my e-mail addresses manually, several times, in both of those browsers.  I have closed and re-opened the browsers. I have rebooted my computer.

It works on other websites, but still doesn't work on the Outlook.com sign-in page.

I reiterate langware's question:  Have you tried it yourself?

If some developer has told you that it's fixed in the backend, then I suggest that that person should get his head out of his backend and test the 'fix' in the real world.

    Harshavardhan,

I have two questions for you ....

    1. Have YOU personally verified that the auto-fill issue has been resolved? Have YOU tried to use the Microsoft Account page, typed the first few letters of your email address, and personally verified that the auto - fill bug has been fixed? If not, then how can you say the bug is fixed. PLEASE PERSONALLY VERIFY THAT THE BUG IS FIXED.
    2. What exactly does this mean ... "I suggest you check and revert if it doesn't work." What do you mean "revert"? Revert to what???

EDIT:  I just tried signing in, and auto-fill DOES NOT WORK for me.

While we are waiting for Harshavardhan, to try signing in to see if the fix works for him, has anyone else tried signing in to see if auto fill is working?
