outlook.live.com Sent mails not saved in Sent items

Hi ...I have my 3rd party mail account configured to my outlook.live.com . The mails have been synced and so did the folders(including sent items) , however whenever i try to send mails from outlook.live.com ,using the account which i configured , the mails are sent without any issues but the mails are not saved in the sent items of my outlook.live.com.  I then checked the mail settings of my 3rd party provider and they do have the settings set properly for saving all the messages to sent items."Copy Email Messages to Sent Items When Sending Mail:" - is set to always. Appreciate any inputs to fix this problem.

Thanks

The way I see it, if you have a connected account configured to use POP (or IMAP, for that matter), then your outgoing mail isn't using Outlook.com's SMTP server to send the message. It's using the connected account's SMTP server, which means the Sent folder on that remote service should have a copy of the outgoing message. Your Outlook.com mailbox won't even see the outgoing message and, hence, won't have a copy in the Outlook.com Sent folder.

in my experience, if you were using POP3 then you have the wrong ID for the server going out, or the wrong Port (versus the one receiving mail). If you're using IMAP then it is much harder to determine since Outlook will not keep a copy in the sent folder, and it theoretically is using the original account's server (by proxy settings) it is supposed to be there. The fact you cannot find a copy in either is not surprising, as that is a thread for many months. The fact it doesn't send it at all is equally hard to solve because it is....Microsoft.  :-)

I finally gave up trying to solve the IMAP idea and went back to POP3. But, Microsoft has made that hard by default settings to IMPA for some providers. So, you use all he settings for POP3 provided by the Connected Account, but do not call it Yahoo or EarthLink, just call it JoesMail. Use "other" provider, call it JoesMail and use the settings for the one you want.

Well today I followed the advice of someone, somewhere in one of the many posts on one of the many threads about this problem - which was to include my own email address when I send using the connected account, so that I have a record. And what did I discover?

    • I didn't receive them!! Looks as though all those emails that didn't display in my Sent folder, didn't go anywhere. But the message didn't remain in Drafts either (as it does if I use the POP settings).
