At some point signing out of Outlook started redirecting to MSN. This is really frustrating - especially when accidently clicking anywhere on the screen that is NOT the login field causes the login form to disappear.
How do I disable this redirect? I would like to see the outlook login page when I sign out - not the MSN news page.

Or try switching from outlook to one drive instead of logging out - then logout from one drive which will bring you to one drives login page thus avoiding msn
Just block the msn page with your firewall or antivirus program. Or go to internet options and exclude the page from allowing access. Depending on your firewall program or browser you might even be able to redirect to whatever page you'd like. I don't think Microsoft will give you a straight answer on this because MSN is their website with their ads...
I was eventually able to block msn.com in the host file without a third party program. I was able to use a hex editor to modify dnsapi.dll (I modified both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions) and replace the msn.com references. After that I was able to redirect www.msn.com to the outlook sign-in page in the hosts file. Now when I sign out, it goes right back to the sign-in page.

Someone's sacred puppy indeed, if it wasn't for the revenue MSN milks on victims of brainwashing, thanks to media / unrealistic non educational sources, the big m would have let go of MSN years ago.
But I must let alone that most of the clicks as you mentioned are being forced when people are signing out of their basic emails.
Summarized it is pretty much like jail, no choices to make on your own, only forced to live as the big companies tell you, I'm referencing television, magazines and of course the internet itself.
By this kind of regression there shouldn't be any asking at all regarding the world being at its grasp.
It's a bummer that Outlook is the only way to reach your Hotmail accounts, there must be another way..
