How to merge 2 Microsoft accounts?

I would like to tell you that we don't have a feature of merging an accounts, we can only suggest that you link your accounts as a workaround. To do this, please follow the steps below:

To be clear, what I found only moves purchases from one Microsoft account to another:

There are caveats to this approach, which are listed in the article.

this does not apply to such a basic request.

This will work if you just want both email addresses on the same account. It won't transfer Microsoft purchase history or anything. 

I accidentally set up an account with my gmail account a long time ago (on Microsoft or xbox). All of my Microsoft purchases and subscriptions were on my live account. TURNS OUT YOU CAN'T MERGE THEM HA XD. Also, if you try to just delete the account to get your email …. IT TAKES A YEAR FOR THAT EMAIL TO BECOME AVALIBLE AGAIN. 

What you CAN do...

1. Go make a new email for temporary use at gmail, mail.com, yahoo etc
2. In another tab go sign into the Microsoft you don't really use. Then go to "manage account/add alias"
3. Add the NEW email address to the account that you DON'T want to keep (add alias). 
4. Change the NEW/temp email address to your "primary email address"
5. Delete your OLD email off of that account. Now that old email address will be immediately available. 
6. Just sign out and sign back into the Microsoft account you wanted to keep... add the old email as an alias and your done! Better then losing the use of your email address or waiting A YEAR to get it! 

**This works for xbox accounts too (its amazing how many people made the same mistake I did XD)

**Make sure you set which ever email address you want to use as a login as your "primary"
