someone DOES have the same hotmail email address as me, this is a security issue

hi, someone definitely has the same Hotmail email address as me. I have had this address for years. then a few months ago I started receiving information from ebay that was meant for this person. I contacted ebay and they asked this person to change her email which she must of done because I do not receive mail from ebay that's is not intended for me now.  yesterday I received a email from a energy company with this persons name and and energy account  number. I am worried she may be receiving my emails and this may be a security issue? what should I do please.?

    I have read this entirely and have not found the answer. My issue is simply. I created a hotmail account when hotmail first started up a long time ago. Never had any issues with it until about 3 or 4 years ago when I found out someone from a Spanish speaking country has the EXACT same email address. Now I do not receive any of their emails except for some spam, but do not really know if it is meant for me or them except that it is in Spanish. The issue I have found is that they used that email to set up accounts on Google and a few others. When I try to use the same email, it says I already have an account. So I have to sign up with a different email. His first name is Emilo. Makes no difference if I change my password. So I firmly believe it is possible when the other person is from a different country. Microsoft should just state that it is possible and it is a glitch in the system.

    No-one else has the same email address as you. No-one.

    From your description it appears that you are getting SPAM which looks like it is from your email address. It isn't really. The spammer has just faked the email to appear that it is from you. This makes it harder to ignore because, as you have found, you can't ignore email that is "from" yourself.

    Nothing you can do about it except try to run some rules based on the content of the email rather then the "sender" of the email.

    Spammers are getting smarter all the time. Scum they may be, but they're not stupid!

    I have the EXACT same problem, 100% same issue and arguments. Can someone help me? I have mailed to abuse@ but get no reply

    That is: SOMEONE HAS THE EXACT SAME EMAIL ADRESS AS I - AND WHEN I TRY TO BLOCK THE SENDER IT SAYS: "CANT BLOCK YOUR OWN EMAIL ADRESS". WHAT I GET FORM THE SENDER IS: COMMERCIALS AND SPAM ( that is send in with own email address ). How is this solved? I have read several threads on this issue but found no actual solution. When changing things in my account ( i.e. sender NAME ) it directly and immediately changes the same in the other account ( that I receive SPAM from ).

    Sorry, when I said I'd changed my email address multiple times I meant I'd changed my password multiple times. It doesn't make any difference. I still constantly get these emails, and she was somehow able to use my email address to sign up for Facebook and Twitter (meaning she had to confirm these subscriptions via email). And my recent activity includes mostly incorrect password events, dozens of them, most of them not involving me. (they are all listed as US)

    Please read the post by jFiredog for an explanation of how this can happen.

    If your email address is associated with a Facebook or Twitter account, then maybe you can request a password reset for those account and lock them!
