Cannot sync birthdays from people to calendar... Help!!

I have manually added birthdays to certain people in my Microsoft account ('@outlook.com')...

these birthdays are supposed to automatically sync to my Calendar once added to a contact...

t's been 48 hrs and the birthdays are not updating to the calendar...

I have also tried to delete the birthday calendar and add it back...

I have tried to re-edit the relevant contact to see if it will update to calendar, but that also doesn't work...

I have Nokia Windows Phone 8 and I am using the Microsoft account with the phone...

The contacts are syncing fine with the phone, but the birthday calendar can't update until this problem is resolved...

I desperately want to get all my contacts, birthdays, calendar entries synced

I have also tried to add a birthday in calendar for a contact name I already have in people this then  creates a duplicate contact I then go to manage, clean up contacts this is then fine until about 24 hours later you then have duplicate birthdays

Please help!!!

I applied every method known to man and nothing changed - then one day it all synced and has continued to do so. I suspect an update has corrected the underlying problem.

    Hi 7simonchapman,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

We would like to apologize for not replying in a timely manner. I understand that you are having difficulty in using your Outlook.com Calendar in syncing with your account, let me help you

Please be informed that you need to access your Outlook.com Calendar options by clicking on the gear icon and choose "options" , then choose your "Birthday  calendar". Look for the word "Refresh now" and kindly click it. Once you have clicked that option it will sync all of your contacts from your People page.

I hope this will help with your concern and let us know the result.

    Thank you,

I found, that the manual refresh actually does the trick. Only one issue remains for me, linked contacts. If you have linked contacts it won't read all birthdays. For example I have my brother, his wife and children linked to keep my phone book tidy. That will not work with the birthday calendar.

I was told from the MS representative back in Oct 2014 that this issue was being sent to the development section for repair.  Nothing has been done about losing birthdays from the calendar.  MS is just ignoring this issue!

Thank you all for the replies. It's been a few days now and the Birthday Calendar doesn't have one date in it.

I created several new fake contacts, just with Birthdays, and those do not show up in the calendar as well. Judging be everyone's comments, the birthdays may populate one day. But whose to say is they will also start disappearing again without notice. I'll just add all the birthdays as regular calendar reminders going forward.

It's embarrassing that MS has yet to fix an issue that has been ongoing for so long...

    Hi,

I had the same issue, but since some time, birthday calendar works fine and all names are there. I don't know what I did or what happened in order to resolve the issue, but the issue occurs no more for me.

MS attitude to this issue is serious shame.

Hi, I had a similar experience.  I did a lot of investigating with different scenarios back in January of 2015.  I even re-created a birthday calendar in another outlook account that I have, where the only contacts in that separate account were people with birthdays.  As added insurance I kept an excel worksheet of bithdays as a backup.  For a time I kept reporting if birthdays were disappearing and then miraculously, the problem ceased and the birthday calendar in my primary account remained stable from near the end of January 2015 to current.  The calendar I created in the other outlook account has NEVER had problems since the date of creation.  The reason for the correction in birthday calendar operation still remains a mystery to me.
