Cannot sync birthdays from people to calendar... Help!!

I have manually added birthdays to certain people in my Microsoft account ('@outlook.com')...

these birthdays are supposed to automatically sync to my Calendar once added to a contact...

t's been 48 hrs and the birthdays are not updating to the calendar...

I have also tried to delete the birthday calendar and add it back...

I have tried to re-edit the relevant contact to see if it will update to calendar, but that also doesn't work...

I have Nokia Windows Phone 8 and I am using the Microsoft account with the phone...

The contacts are syncing fine with the phone, but the birthday calendar can't update until this problem is resolved...

I desperately want to get all my contacts, birthdays, calendar entries synced

I have also tried to add a birthday in calendar for a contact name I already have in people this then  creates a duplicate contact I then go to manage, clean up contacts this is then fine until about 24 hours later you then have duplicate birthdays

Please help!!!

    Hi,

I had the same issue, but since some time, birthday calendar works fine and all names are there. I don't know what I did or what happened in order to resolve the issue, but the issue occurs no more for me.

MS attitude to this issue is serious shame.

I have been on this thread for about 18 months and it appears nothing has changed with regard to all the calendar, contacts, birthdays problems and all the delayed Microsoft band aids that don't work.

Now I have found a solution.

    Dear Stefan,

the sync problem between People Hub and Birthday Calendar has been there for years now.

Deleting and recreating the entire Calendar never made any difference for me. If you wait a few hours, the Calendar should repopulate - but don't expect it to be complete, birthdays events will go missing now and then.

What would really make it worse is deleting a specific birthday from the Calendar: in that case you will never be able to add a birthday for that specific contact. You will have to create a new contact (with the same name, if you want) and add the birthday again to the newly created contact. On this very thread, a Microsoft employee confirmed that this is by design, to my disbelief.

In short, to my limited knowledge, there is not a known solution to the Outlook.com Birthday Calendar sync issue as of today, - literally years after the problem was first reported.

    Best,

    Fra

    Hi Bruce,

I tested your above directions, but when I deleted the contact, the birthday record was gone from my calendar.  I have devised a work around for this until (and/or if...) Microsoft fixes the issue.  I added the birthday into the calendar, but entered zz First Name and zz Last Name for the contact details and left everything else blank.  Since there will never be a first or last name that begins with zz, this put all of the extraneous contacts created due to the Birthday Calendar entries at the bottom of my Contacts List and mainly out of my view.  Yes, it made my Contacts List a bit longer, but as the entries don't clutter up my list, it doesn't bother me.

    Hi Doreen

Your work around seems like a good solution.  I went back to my calendar today, after I got your response.  The 'person' John Doe that I created the birthday record manually in the birthday calendar and subsequently deleted from my People Hub, still has his birthday showing in the Calendar.  When I searched the people hub to see if he was there, I could not find a record for him in the People Hub.  The companion record for 'Mary Doe' for whom a birthday was created in the same manner but whose people record was not deleted from the People Hub still has her birthday on the calendar, and still has her record in the people hub.  Go figure!  The calendar seems to act differently for different users.  It may be working that way, because my calendar is not synced with any other device.  Since all of my manipulations with the calendar 11 months ago, my calendar has remained stable.  I can't tell you why because there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it with the exception that it is not synced with any other device like a cell-phone or social media site.  I hope your solution continues to work for you.

Welcome to the club of users who have been complaining to Microsoft about the odd and inconsistent behaviour of the calendar.  I am going to leave those two 'dummy birthdays in place.  If something odd happens to them, I will report back.  ~~ Good luck!

    Hi 7simonchapman,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

We would like to apologize for not replying in a timely manner. I understand that you are having difficulty in using your Outlook.com Calendar in syncing with your account, let me help you

Please be informed that you need to access your Outlook.com Calendar options by clicking on the gear icon and choose "options" , then choose your "Birthday  calendar". Look for the word "Refresh now" and kindly click it. Once you have clicked that option it will sync all of your contacts from your People page.

I hope this will help with your concern and let us know the result.

    Thank you,

I tried refresh - nothing changed.  Some birthdays are showing some nit - a month ago as far as I know they were all showing and have been for years - I have 4 birthdays on Nov 3rd two are showing???
