"Silent" Notification Doesn't Work On Outlook.com Android App

Downloaded and configured the Outlook.com app for my HTC One and it will play any audible notification that I select except for "Silent".

settings > General > Notifications > Email Notifications > Audio Notification

If I do select "Silent", it still plays an audible tone - a tone unique to the application. It doesn't sound like any other selectable tone.

Even if I uncheck notifications, the tone still plays.

I really like the application, but I can't use it if it refuses to be silent on each new email :)

Thank you for getting back to us. Since the option to turn the sounds off on Outlook.com app does not work, then there is a possibility that the Outlook.com app itself is causing this issue. It might be that the Outlook.com app is faulty.

Now, we recommend that you uninstall the Outlook.com app and download the latest version of it from the Play store. Once done, we recommend that you turn the email notification sound off by following the steps below:

1.       Open the Outlook.com app on your mobile device.

2.       Tap on the Menu option.

3.       Tap on Settings.

4.       Choose General.

5.       Choose notifications.

6.       Click on email notifications and then make sure that the box is unchecked.

7.       Tap on Audio Notification.

8.       When you get into your notification, choose the "silent" button.

    I would have found this myself if only the "Audo Notification" did not look like just a section heading. It is in plain font, not bold or underlined or in any way signalling that it is a clickable control!

    Hi racky29!

    I have a Motorola Droid Bionic and had this same issue, but figured out how to shut it up by doing the following:

    1. Open the Outlook app.
    2. Select the option to view Settings (on mine, tapping the three vertical dots in the lower-right corner brings up the settings option, which you then select).
    3. Select General.
    4. Select Notifications.
    5. Select Email Notifications.

    Here's where it's not intuitive. On this screen, you have checkboxes for Message Notification and Vibrate, which I presume you already have unchecked. Above these, though, is the text "Audio Notification".  Tap that and you will get a list of audio options to use for notifications. Select Silent, then OK.

    When I did that, peace, quiet and sanity was restored.

    I have same problem

    Running Galaxy S3 android 4.3

    Cannot turn off notification 

    Have it set to push and sync manually

    Butt still it constantly gives notification on new mail

    I am now faced with un installing app

    I cant take it anymore, bleep. Bleep. Bleep all day long
