Is there any way to disable junk-mail/spam filtering completely in Outlook.com? I'd prefer my Windows client to handle this locally, thus everything I receive to my @outlook.com address should be going into Inbox.

    Hi Elpis1848,

Welcome to Microsoft Community! We understand your frustration on being unable to completely disable Outlook.com's spam filter. Please be informed that Outlook.com's spam filter is set by default and cannot be completely disabled but can be modified by following the steps that the previous moderators have provided.

We encourage you to place your feedback/suggestion in this page. Our Product Team regularly reviews the page provided to see customers' suggestions and feedback about product enhancements. Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to post back.

This feedback link does not work.  Please provide an updated feedback link.

The years have ticked by, and Microsoft have still not provided an option to disable Junk Mail filtering, yet have constantly made changes so that, one by one, each of the workarounds posted here no longer work.  Now even selecting a filter 'Apply to all messages' and 'Move to Inbox' does not prevent mail being put in the Junk Mail folder.  Also, the Junk Mail filter is still fairly useless, and doesn't seem to be much better than completely random.

There are millions of customers who do not want any mail being automatically put in a Junk Mail folder.  MICROSOFT, WHY ARE YOU NOT LISTENING TO THEM?!

    Hi,

Junk email could be any unwanted, unsolicited, or illicit e-mail or other electronic messages, including spam. To help reduce the consequences of junk email,  Hotmail includes junk email protection. When an external user sends email messages to a Hotmail account, SmartScreen® filter technology evaluates the content of the messages and assigns the message a rating based on the probability that the message is junk email.

As what the previous moderator said, add the contact to your Safe senders list and to your Contacts list.

Also, Set your Junk mail filter setting to Exclusive. If you set your Junk mail filter level to Exclusive, only messages from your contacts and Safe senders lists will be allowed to go to your Inbox. Please follow the steps below:

    1. Sign in to your Outlook.com inbox.
    2. Go to Options-More mail settings.
    3. Under Preventing junk email, choose Filters and reporting.
    4. Under Choose a junk email filter, click on the radio button beside Exclusive.
    5. Click on Save.

    Thanks!

Like any other Microsoft moderator answer, this answer does not respond to what was asked and it's not in any way helpful or relevant! What we are looking for is a way to disable Outlook.com's overly aggressive filter COMPLETELY.  Again: TURN OFF THE SPAM FILTER.

Do any of the brains at Microsoft understand that the junk mail folder for email is COMPLETELY WORTHLESS?

First off, everybody knows you have to go through the junk mail folder to look for legitimate mail.

So if you have to look through all of those messages anyway THEN JUST KEEP THEM IN THE DAMN INBOX!! What purpose does the separate folder serve except to hide your mail from you or create more work? It literally has no purpose, unless you're an entry level user that deletes mail without looking at it.

Even after you go through the junk folder and painstakingly find valid messages and mark them as 'not junk', it immediately moves them to the inbox..... and then buries them among your old email because the date of the restored email is in the past.  Now you spend TEN TIMES AS MUCH TIME trying to figure out which #$%^& messages were the ones that were transferred. Why do you torpedo your users with this nonsense?

It boggles the mind the way MS just goes and decides what the user wants without giving them the choice.  In fact, a good 90%+ of ALL hate that MS receives from customers is because they don't just give us the damn choices!

Let us decide if we want junk filtering!

Let us decide if we want a start menu!

Let us decide which buttons to put where in Office, or the browser, or wherever!

Let us decide when we get updates so you don't brick our machines!

Let us decide if we want Win 10!

Let us decide if we want to use WLM!

    This list is miles long!

It is astounding that after all of this time the people in Redmond absolutely do not get this.

the only option to stop this is to delete your account and switch if you have your mail forwarded you never get all mail either cus the stupid spam filter kidnaps certain emails before it forwards them.

At the very least if you forward all mail it should do just that forward ALL MAIL !!!
