I am using MacBook Pro speakers and Microphone as per the Teams settings. When I open settings and just select MacBook Pro speakers and Microphone again, the echo stops. This is really annoying. Can someone help?

I can confirm the same echo related issue on any chromium browser (chrome, edge, brave). What I have discovered is that the cancellation appears to be established at the start of a call. If you have background noise then you are more than likely going to have the issue where your teams connection results in everyone else hearing echo of themselves. For myself this started around 16/17 Jan 2024. Changing the Noise Cancellation between Auto, High, Low, Medium on my M1 does not have any real effect on the problem. Extensive testing over a number of hours to get this far as the echo almost makes teams unusable. I have had a great deal of success with Safari not having the echo problems however it does appear to have video problems. I suppose i could try changing the user agent and see if that addresses anything.

In short, it appears the AI cancellation is messed up and Teams on Chromium is only usable if your in a dead silent room otherwise the cancellation causes echo for other parties.

I hope this gets fixed earlier rather than later.

    Hello Komal,

My name is EngineTyme, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I would be glad to help you.

Echoing during Teams calls in the Chrome browser can be frustrating. Based on your description, it seems to be a temporary issue related to audio settings. Here are some things you can try to fix it:

    1. Restart Teams in Chrome: Close all Teams tabs in your Chrome browser. Re-open Teams and join the call again.
    2. Adjust microphone settings: In Teams settings (accessible through the gear icon), go to Devices. Select your MacBook Pro Microphone under Microphone. Make sure the Automatic gain control and Echo cancellation options are enabled. Adjust the Microphone volume slider to a suitable level (not too high).
    3. Test your audio: Click on the Make a test call button in the Devices settings. Follow the prompts and listen for any echo during the test call.
    4. Disable other audio applications: Close any other programs that might be using your microphone or speakers (e.g., music apps, video calls on other platforms).
    5. Use headphones: If the echo persists, try using wired or wireless headphones. This can help isolate the microphone and speakers, reducing echo potential.
    6. Consider browser extensions: Some Chrome extensions are designed to improve audio quality during online calls. Research and try reputable extensions like Krisp or NoiseGator to see if they help.
