Double beep when muted on Teams Shokz Headset

Hello

I see a lot of threads and people moaning about Double beep when muted on Teams when using a Shokz headset which is the problem I have. (Headset previously called AfterShokz)

I use a work computer so do not have admin rights, and muting shoks headset by pressing the +/- volume keys does not stop the beeping noise.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Interesting, I assumed that since iOS version was working it was isolated to Windows. Seems to be more specifically a Teams issue. Very frustrating for sure, I will have to see if I have the option to warranty my headset.

    That exact situation happened to me as well. That great work-around stopped working. I saw a mention of trying Teams on browser instead of the app. I tried this and had no beeping at all. I didn't have to push any buttons or do anything. I was muted, but not constantly told I was muted. Hopefully this will work for others as well. I wanted to throw my headphones away for awhile until I found this solution.

    One workaround is using the microphone of your laptop or desktop computer (if you have any additional one). In the Teams meeting window, click on the (... More) - Settings - Device Settings and change the Microphone Settings to your computer's microphone (if any).

    This is not the most elegant solution, but it will stop the beeping. Unfortunately, you must be close to your computer when using the headphones.

    I hope they come to a better solution soon.

    Hello all. I just wanted share a few possible resolutions to this issue.

    1. When muted in Microsoft Teams, press the “+” and “-“ button on the Opencomms. You will hear “Mute Off” from your headset but Teams will remain muted. You will have to do this each time you unmute.
    2. Purchase Shokz Loop 100 dongle. Can be bought on the Shokz website but I got mine on Amazon (faster shipping). This is the expensive route at $50 but I was tired of doing the above steps every time I unmuted. I will say that call quality is much better and the button functionality works on the PC with this dongle.
    3. I’ve read through other threads that just purchasing a cheap bluetooth dongle and connect the Opencomm to this. I haven’t tested this myself but was worth mentioning.

    Hello all,

    There is a solution on Windows, if you are able to install VB-Audio Virtual Cable. The program is for free. You can use following tutorial, which I found in 2021, when Teams always changed the microphone gain. This also helps for the mute issue as you will use a virtual microphone in Teams, which listens to your Shokz Mic. Hence Teams can't interfere with Shokz device anymore. Therfore no Audrey announcement and no beeps.
