No chat notification sound after updating Teams to new version 23285.3809.2525.961 on Mac

Try to check your 'do not disturb' setting. And turn that off.

I was able to resolve this thanks to a comment on Reddit -

I went to System Settings > Notifications then turned on "Allow notifications when mirroring or sharing the display"

Removed Teams and Outlook from DND exceptions, and tried both Teams default sound and Mac sound, and all is working now. Not sure why the mirroring setting matters, but it seems to for me.

The mirroring setting could be in play if you're using DisplayLink drivers (via a dock) to connect your MacBook to external displays. As soon as I read your suggestion, I knew that would be it!

The fix that allowed sounds for me for chats is that I had to turn on my Mac Sound Effects, which I do not like having on. I prefer to have a silent work environment EXCEPT when I am pinged for a chat or call, then I want to have a sound notify me. Tying this into mac sounds without a bypass makes this rather unfortunate. ALSO the sound chosen to be used is not a subtle sound and very annoying. AND it notifies even if you are in the chat with others, so when a whole team is updating while you are also updating, it is pinging like crazy.

I think I'm just going to go silent and build a new habit of checking my teams (on a separate window) periodically. Very annoying. OR just do like almost everyone else in the world is doing and just go back to classic teams.

Hoping to get more visibility on this, it's extremely annoying.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, same is not working for me. I am also on "Mac OS 14.1.1, MS Teams (for School, work) Version 23285.3809.2525.961". Getting frustrated as days are passing. I may need to revert back to old Teams if do not get the solution soon.
