No chat notification sound after updating Teams to new version 23285.3809.2525.961 on Mac

I was able to resolve this thanks to a comment on Reddit -

I went to System Settings > Notifications then turned on "Allow notifications when mirroring or sharing the display"

Removed Teams and Outlook from DND exceptions, and tried both Teams default sound and Mac sound, and all is working now. Not sure why the mirroring setting matters, but it seems to for me.

We just updated to the new Teams today and we are also experiencing this issue of no sound for chat messages when the banner message notification box is turned off. This is super frustrating! I tried the fix of turning off sound notifications, quitting, and turning them back on, but that did not fix it. I am on a windows laptop. Has anyone else been able to fix this?

Thank you! Thank you! As soon as I added MS Teams to the Allowed Apps in the Focus>Do Not Disturb List, all the notifications sounds started working!

I have recently my Teams on Mac to new version "23285.3809.2525.961". Since the update, I am not getting any chat notification sound at all. I have checked all the relevent setting on micorosoft teams as well as in notification centre on Mac but no luck. Can anyone please help?

We were facing the same issue and recently one of my colleagues figured out that if we are using new teams on Mac as well as on our phone, the focus mode and do not disturb service get turned on on Mac without our knowing. Because it is in sync with the changes if made on the phone for teams. So you can try searching focus on the system setting and check if it is turned on or do not disturb is turned on under focus mode.

Also, if it solves the issue, consider disabling sync on Mac or adding Teams to the whitelist.

We had this issue on every mac. Teams would not play an alert sound when a chat is received from someone in Teams. All of the other settings mentioned were all set. The only addition that worked for us was this:

1. Navigate to Sound Preferences of the Mac.
2. We selected "Play sound effects through: Internal Speakers,
3. The key was selecting "Play user interface sound effects"

Once Play user interface sound effects was selected, sounds would come through when someone messages team members through Teams.
