No chat notification sound after updating Teams to new version 23285.3809.2525.961 on Mac

Really appriciate your response. I looked at the link you provided and it talks about the issue resolution on windows. I tried same steps on Mac counterpart settings and unfortunately no luck. I am facing the issue with notification sound not working. Other sounds are working fine for example I can hear other team members fine when in a meeting, I can also hear sound when someone calls me on teams but I can not hear any sound when someone pings me.

Here's how I fixed this:

1. Go to Settings > Notifications and Activity > Notifications
2. Turn OFF "Play Sound with Notifications" and "Play sound with incoming calls, request......"
3. Quit Teams
4. Relaunch Teams
5. Turn ON "Play Sound with Notifications" and "Play sound with incoming calls, request......"
6. Quit Teams
7. Relaunch Teams.

This has worked for me. Mac OS 14.1.1, MS Teams (for School, work) Version 23285.3809.2525.961

I have the very same problem and it driving me crazy. Incoming call notifications have a sound but not for chats. I was thinking I am the only one

You have Microsoft Teams version 23285.3809.2525.961. You've got the latest version. It was last updated on 17.11.2023.The client version is 50/23101227712.

I have to admit I may have found my issue and I cannot prove this was always the issue from the beginning ... but I realized I was using MacOS/iOS focus mode most of the time. while working I was using focus "work" and with old Teams (which is now Teams classic) I had configured an exception for notifications during focus time. After updating to Teams 2.0 (and the renaming of Teams to Teams classic) this focus mode exception was still looking into a no more existing Teams app.

Since I realized this I now allowed Teams 2.0 to notify during focus mode and voila ... I have notification sounds again. shame on me ...

I'm not sure who will see this, but I figured out how to fix the problem on my Mac. I had both versions of Teams simultaneously installed (old and new).

In order to get notification sounds on New Teams, I had to go into Mac's System Preferences > Notifications & Focus AND THEN disable notifications for Old Teams. Only then would New Teams play notification sounds.

Not sure if that will work for anyone else, but if you have both versions installed, it's worth a shot. Good luck!

Yeah it is really frustating. This is a basic functionality and microsoft is expected to fix it asap.
