Unable to login to Teams - That code didn't work. Check the code and try again

I am trying to login into Microsoft Teams. I enter email address and password and all is good. It then asks for my mobile number and sends me a txt msg with a 4 digit code. I enter this code and then get the following error: "That code didn't work. Check the code and try again." Obviously I have entered the code correctly. What to do next to get this resolved?

    You really helped by getting me to try logging in via two different links. This proved to me that the telephone number was already linked to a Microsoft account.

    When I tried to login via  https://teams.microsoft.com and I got the error message - 'This phone number has already been taken. Sign in with that number or use a different one.' I decided to login to Microsoft with this telephone number as the username. I then had to finish the setup of this account by adding an email address (I created a new one). Once this was all setup I removed the telephone number from the account.

    I then added the telephone number to my real Microsoft account and once that was done I was able to use Teams.

    I'd like to let you know there are 2 types of accounts when it comes to MS Team free:

    1. MS Team free personal account.
    2. MS Team free organization account.

    Please be advised those 2 accounts are not the same.

    From what I understand you are experiencing "That code didn't work. check the code and try again." with your MS Team free personal account but it seems you have not signed up yet for the MS Team free organization account yet.

    MS Team free personal account requires you to register a phone number. However, on the other hand, you don't have to register a phone number. You still can use the same email address for both MS Team free personal account & MS Team free organization account. 

    In this case, I suggest log into MS Team free organization account instead. If you still have not signed up yet then please visit the following article to find out how to sign up for MS Team free organization account: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/sign...

    I'd also like to let you know MS Team free organization account offers more features than MS Team free personal account. So, feel free to take advantage of the opportunity.

    With https://teams.live.com I get error message "That code didn't work. check the code and try again.'

    With https://teams.microsoft.com I get different error message:

    'This phone number has already been taken. Sign in with that number or use a different one.'

    I then logged into my other Microsoft account (different email address) but there is no phone number linked to that account. So I'm still not sure how to resolve the issue.
